The Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has called on Ghanaians to vote for the ruling New Patriotic Party in the upcoming December 7 2024 general elections.

Speaking to the media at the Osei Adutwum Senior High School in the Bosomtwe Constituency after a donation exercise, the Education Minister touted the New Patriotic Party administration’s sterling achievements over the period it has been in power and urged electorates to retain the party in the next election.

According to him, the achievements of the New Patriotic Party administration under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia cut across all the sectors of the country’s economy.

“My word to voters is that there is no constitutional provision that says you can’t do beyond eight. Our government has done well, come to education, we have free secondary education, free TVET, and now the transformation of public schools and if you look at our track record in health, in industry, in every sector, we deserve another term.

“So what we are saying is that Ghanaians should vote for NPP under the leadership of the now-flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bamumia. So we hope that voters will look at what we have done and based on that, decide to keep NPP in power for the next 4 to 8 years and beyond.”

Adutwum Touts Achievements As MP

Again, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed excitement over what he has been able to achieve for the Bosomtwe Constituency since his assumption into office as the Member of Parliament.

He posited that measures and projects rolled out by his outfit and government have transformed teaching and learning in the Bosomtwe Constituency.

According to him, his outfit would continue to roll out policies and projects that will make the Bosomtwe Constituency the centre of educational excellence in Ghana where students from different areas across the country and beyond can go to learn and acquire knowledge and skills.

“I want it to be second to none in Ghana and probably West Africa in terms of the concentration of education facilities and education opportunities. If you come to Bosomtwe now, our technical institutes and high schools are about 12. Beyond 2024, you are going to see a transformed Bosomtwe, a place where we have more engineers per capita than any other place in Ghana.

“If we work well, any place in Africa. So our goal is to make sure that this becomes the centerpiece when you talk about education not just in Ghana but in Africa and probably in the world. I believe that parents have a role to play in terms of ensuring that their children, and grandchildren, go through education.

Moreover, the Bosomtwe lawmaker while recounting the number of educational interventions he has provided to some of his constituents to help them get access to education at different levels called on parents across the country to play their respective roles in making the education of the children a fruitful one.

Dr Osei Adutwum emphasized that regardless of the many interventions rolled out by the government such as the free senior high school policy to make education affordable and accessible for all Ghanaian children, if parents slack on their responsibilities required of them the education of their children would be meaningless.

“I have supported about 22 students with trunks, chop boxes, mattresses, and some money to buy their provisions. Another 45 are going to be supported. I was just appealing to them [parents] that in case there’s a need, we are here to support them. But they should also step up and ensure that the education of their children receives priority in their families and their own lives.”
