Weeks after completing a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon, Chef Failatu Abdul Razak has disclosed that she is still angry with her team for calling off the attempt after 227 hours of cooking.

Chef Faila began her attempt at midnight on January 1 and cooked non-stop for nine days and eleven hours. She had initially indicated her readiness to continue but her her husband, Captain Reginald Adjei despite assurances from doctors urged her to end the activity.

Chef Faila expressed her disappointment with the team’s decision, stating that she never complained of stress and would have been able to continue with her target of 240 hours.

“I’m so mad at my team. They were too oversabi to have been listening to things. Was I complaining?” she jokingly stated.

Chef Faila, however, expressed her appreciation for her husband, she described him as a positive person who kept encouraging her with words.

“He was a positive person. Positive words, positivity, how you talk to anyone. That’s who he is. And those words were not geared towards me only, but a constant reminder of the fact that ‘Faila, I asked you why you wanted to do this. You first mentioned that you wanted to do this for the people who have been there for you. Why disappoint them now? Do it for them. They are here. Do it’,” she said.

Chef Failatu’s statement comes as a Nigerian chef surpasses her hours for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

In a culinary feat that combines skill, endurance, and community spirit, Nigerian Chef Beauty Obasuyi, currently based in Canada, is in the midst of an 18-day cooking marathon to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon (individual).

The ambitious endeavor, streamed live on her YouTube channel, is happening inside her restaurant, Naija Jollof, to surpass the existing record of 119 hours held by Irish chef Alan Fisher.

Originally, she planned an eight-day cook-a-thon but was prompted to extend her marathon after hearing news of Chef Faila’s impressive 227-hour cooking marathon.

Determined to secure the title, Obasuyi was then forced to extend her cook-a-thon attempt to a formidable 18 consecutive days of non-stop cooking.

As of Friday at 12:30 p.m., Obasuyi had surpassed a staggering 228-hour mark, captivating online audiences with her culinary prowess and dedication to breaking the record.

Getting Used To Celebrity Status

Failatu Abdul-Razak revealed that she is gradually getting used to her new status as a celebrity after her cook-a-thon project which ended on Wednesday, January 10.

Faila recently came under harsh criticisms and was widely condemned following comments of being disappointed with artistes such as Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale for not coming to Tamale to support her during her cook-a-thon.

But speaking recently, Faila mentioned her critics should take it easy on her since she is still adjusting to the celebrity lifestyle.

“I will tell you that experience is everything. I have never lived that life before, and I need to adjust. I am just ordinary like anyone else, so if I make a mistake, I am not expecting someone to vilify me for it,” she said.

“Should I have pretended to jump like I was already a celebrity to have known certain things? No, I have to adjust to that lifestyle, and it takes a gradual process,” she further added.

Also, Chef Failatu declared that she cannot be easily bullied.

“Unfortunately, we have a certain category of people, the moment you are in the limelight, they come out with all forms of negativity and vilify you and forget all the good things you have done. But unfortunately, I am not someone you can bully,” Faila said.
