Mahama Outlines NDC’s Vision For Dagbon During Building Ghana Tour

John Dramani Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his commitment and that of the National Democratic Congress to provide the needed development projects to the people of Dagbon.

The National Democratic Congress leader and flagbearer for the 2024 general elections delivering his speech during his visit to Yaa-Naa’s Palace in Dagbon as part of his Building Ghana Tour in the Northern Region, reflected on the longstanding relationship he has with the community as well as the shared memories between himself and the Yaa-Naa, and stressed his commitment to promote peace within the area when elected into power.

Mr Mahama, while expressing condolence to the Dagbonwura for the recent passing of their mutual friend, Hajj Ssisu, a figure with whom he had worked closely, highlighted the numerous challenges faced and successes achieved in bringing peace to Dagbon, and thus called on the local people to cherish and promote unity and cooperation in the area.

The former President speaking on the prevailing hardships the country faces ahead of the 2024 general elections stressed the need for an honest, truthful, competent, and experienced leadership to lead Ghana out of its current woes.

According to Mr Mahama, he is very confident that the National Democratic Congress when elected into power in 2025 would provide the leadership required, to build a better and prosperous Ghana for all citizens regardless of their background.

Mahama Pledges To Address The Development Needs Of Yendi

Furthermore, the National Democratic Congress leader and flagbearer for the 2024 general elections commenting on the state of development within the Northern Region expressed disappointment at the failure of the ruling New Patriotic Party administration to complete the Yendi water project, a  project which according to him was initiated during his time in office.

The former President strongly assured the residents and elders within the Yendi locality that, if elected into power in 2025, his government would prioritise the rehabilitation of the project to address the water needs of the region.

“We know Dagbon has a lot of challenges and so when we were in government we never denied Yendi the needed development. So today, I am disappointed that all the work we did in the Yendi water project during our tenure of office has been destroyed.  Ndan Yaa-Naa, I can assure u that when your son gets into power in 2025, In Shaa Allah you won’t be tasty again”.

Moreover, former President John Dramani Mahama commenting on the insecurity in Yendi and its surroundings pledged to make it a top priority when he assumes office.

Mr Mahama also recounted the National Democratic Congress and his plans to expedite the completion of the Eastern Corridor road when elected into office to ensure seamless travel for commuters who use the route both from the north and the south.

In addition, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr Mahama underscored the significance of the Yendi Hospital and outlined his party’s plans to designate it as a major municipal referral centre when elected into power in 2025.

According to Mr Mahama, such an initiative was contained in the National Democratic Congress Peoples’ Manifesto for the 2016 and 2020 elections respectively and hence the party would ensure such an initiative comes to fruition when it assumes power in 2025.

Former President John Dramani Mahama concluded his speech by urging the people of Yendi to rally behind the National Democratic Congress and vote massively for him and the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Yendi Constituency, lawyer Fataw Jofa in the December 7 2024 general elections.

The former president also expressed his gratitude and invoked blessings from Allah on the Dagbon Kingdom.
