The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey has declared the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama as the right choice Ghanaians should make in the 2024 General Elections.

He opined that Ghanaians cannot wait to see the end of the incompetent governance of the clueless incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government.

“The NPP has done enough damage to families, to the distraction of livelihood, financial haircuts unprecedented unemployment etcetera. There is no time for a trial and error President because Ghana is in a deep hole and Ghanaians are suffering”.

Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey

The NDC General Secretary argued that Ghanaians are experiencing hardship now due to the decision they made to choose a trial and error President and Vice President during the 2016 General Election.

Accordingly, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey presented to Ghanaians the NDC’s plans intended at economic growth if they are elected into power come December 2024 elections. He suggested that these plans have well resonated with Ghanaians so far.

Furthermore, the General Secretary asserted that the NDC plans to scrap of all hash taxes enforced by the NPP government citing the E-Levy, port charges, and betting tax as examples.

He also declared that the NDC will fund development and reduce tax burdens through increasing government share of profit and revenue from natural resources.

Subsequently, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey disclosed that the NDC plans to fight corruption at every level in government and in the general public. He revealed that the NDC will abolish the payment of ex-gratia to members of the executive and other arms of government.

The General Secretary of the NDC also emphasized on the flagbearer’s flagship policy, the 24-hours economy. He stressed that the NDC will create well-paying jobs by completing NDC projects abandoned by the current administration.

Moreover, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey stated that the NDC will establish a Western Industrial Development Enclave that will enable factories based on ecological advantages to be put up.

“So far, these assurances encapsulate the vision John Mahama presents for Ghana, emphasizing his focus on sustainable development, job creation, anti-corruption measures, and significant improvements in the education and health sectors”.

The Need For Visionary Leaders

He stated that the country needs a visionary leader like the flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama to steer the affairs of the country.

More so, the General Secretary argued that the visionary leadership of John Dramani Mahama in his previous administration ensured that Ghana’s economy was flourishing prior to his exit from office in 2017.

He stated that it took the visionary leadership of Fmr President John Mahama’s investments in health infrastructure like the UGMC, the Ridge Hospital, the Ga East Municipal Hospital, and the Shai Osudoku Hospital etc. that became so critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The General Secretary declared that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, is not a visionary leader. He stated that the Vice President’s digitalization drive was made possible because Mr. John Dramani Mahama had laid down the groundwork for digitalization to take off.

The General Secretary made these remarks in a press conference of the National Democratic Congress held at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka. The aim of the conference was to address Ghanaians on the plans the NDC and its Flagbearer have for the country.

Conclusively the NDC has continuously chastised the incumbent government on its economic and social policy implementations that the NDC claims has led to an economic disaster in the country.
