Kofi Aduonum Explains His Frequent Presence Around His Wife

Kofi Aduonum and his wife, Afua Asantewaa

The husband of Afua Asantewaa, Kofi Aduonum, has finally broken the silence over attacks on his frequent presence around his wife.

Afua Asantewaa, known for her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, gained popularity after her attempt.

One of the highlights about her was her husband’s presence at almost all events and programs she attended, including interviews, among others.

Some Ghanaians expressed concerns about him being frequently present with her, with others questioning if he was jobless or had nothing to do but hang around his ‘celebrity wife’.

“One thing we also heard was that I am always following her, but my point is, what if I go ahead of her and someone hurts her from behind? You have to offer protection as a man. That is why they sleep behind us, even on our beds so that we can block any danger from them. That doesn’t make me a fool.”

Kofi Aduonum

According to him, a man walking behind a woman is a sign of protection, referring to what the scriptures say in 1 Peter 3:7: “And in the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in understanding and honor her as a weaker vessel…”.

“Bible refers to women as weaker vessels; why follow a woman and carry the load while you walk behind her, flexing your muscles as a man? It is pointless. In my opinion, I see nothing wrong with helping my wife. So those who feel they are gentlemen and others…well.”

Kofi Aduonum

Unbeknownst to many, before his wife came into the limelight, they had always been going places and doing things together before she gained such popularity.

A man’s proof of his love for his wife is in how much he supports her, Kofi Aduonum added.

Also, Afua’s husband shared an uplifting message from Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Recalling the conversation, Mr. Aduonom emphasized Nyantakyi’s concern for Afua’s well-being, saying, “I am really scared for Afua Asantewaa. I wish her well but she should time her delivery. If she is able to surpass 4 days, then she has done enough.”

Mr. Aduonom commended his wife for her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt and extended gratitude to Ghanaians and global supporters for their unwavering backing.

He highlighted that the primary objective of showcasing Ghana on a global stage was accomplished, expressing gratitude to all patrons and sponsors.

Afua Reveals Other Record Idea Before Sing-A-Thon

Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum once again made remarks about her previous attempt to break a Guinness World Record (GWR).

Asantewaa failed at her GWR attempt for the longest singing marathon. According to Asantewaa, she had other record ideas before choosing the sing-a-thon.

“I initially wanted to try the fastest 100-meter run in heels by a woman. That was my first choice. But my husband advised me against it. He said I should go for something I was passionate about and would not give up easily. I’m a very passionate person and I love music, so I decided to go for the longest singing marathon.

“I also wanted to promote Ghanaian music and make it more popular, as the Nigerians have done. That was my motivation, to link my action to a national goal, which is to put Ghana music on the global stage and make it enjoyable and attractive for every Ghanaian.”

Afua Asantewaa

The current record for the fastest 100 meters in high heels (female) is 13.557 seconds, achieved by Majken Sichlau (Denmark) during the Tarnby Games 2015 at Tarnby Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark, on May 2, 2015.

Asantewaa has expressed her gratitude for the public support during her attempt to break the sing-a-thon record.

“It was a concert that brought the society together and united. I’m glad if it has inspired others to try other records,” she said.
