Only ‘Fools’ Stay Married

Real Warri Pikin

Nigerian comedienne and actress, Anita Asuoha better known as Real Warri Pikin has stated that it is only those who decide to play the ‘fool’ who stay married by making all the sacrifices.

According to her, she doesn’t know why people can’t tolerate each other in marriage but can easily forgive people who offend them.

“Marriage na study working, the man will work, the woman will work, you must have that mentality of making it work out not ready to walk out. Your papa, pikin, brother do you something you forgive, but when it’s your husband, I don’t know why with a spouse, I cannot take it. That’s how I’m wired. Only fools stay married, Yes, I’m a fool. The question Do you know who I am caused a lot of problems?”

“Sometimes, my husband (Ikechukwu) dey annoy me. His background and mine are two different ones, we have come together for the past 11 years. We learn, unlearn, and relearn. Every day I am learning Ikechuku, he is learning me and it makes submission easy because he is the leader.”

Anita, as known by her loved ones also shared how her husband loved her every step of the way when she was slim before marriage, put on weight after birth, and is now slim again adding that there was never an instance where she was emotionally blackmailed by her husband.

She is also of the opinion that when a man leads and is not controlling in the marriage, he listens to his wife and also understands it’s a partnership which makes the marriage attractive and very seamless.

The comedienne also advised that couples should make God the center of their marriage which goes a long way to protect and make the union work all the time.

Real Warri Pikin was in Ghana to support her colleague comedian Parrot Mouth’s ‘Laugh it off’ comedy show at Association International School.

She performed alongside other comedians like Khemikal, DKB, Akpororo, Pararan and others.

Real Warri Pikin disclosed how she almost regretted opening up about her weight loss journey while reflecting on the backlashes.

The comedian divulged that she had numerous health problems as a result of her weight before having gastric sleeve surgery.

She also got candid about some of the challenges she faced even after the successful surgery.

The comedian disclosed that she frequently needed to be hospitalized due to her severe illness struggles.

According to Warri Pikin, this had an impact on her capacity to perform and support herself.

The comedian-turned-actress stated, “It wasn’t easy at all,” adding that she was unable to appear in comedic events and had to return some money that had been paid to her.

Warri Pikin recounted the criticism she received after disclosing her experience undergoing gastric sleeve surgery.

She acknowledged that she regretted the unfavorable comments she had gotten and that she had questioned her decision to give further details about her transformation.

“I almost regretted coming out to say my truth, because people do not accept change. They are stuck with the old version of you because your old version makes them happy, and comfortable. They are plus size, they’re big, they can relate and it makes them happy. So, when you change they feel like you’ve betrayed them, they can’t accept change.”
