Autopsy Failed To Reveal Cause of Mohbad’s Death

The late Mohbad

The pathologist, who conducted an autopsy on the body of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has revealed that the cause of death couldn’t be ascertained.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, disclosed this while addressing the press at the coroner’s inquest held in Lagos State.

“According to him (pathologist), the cause of death cannot be determined because by the time they conducted the test, the body had decomposed and that it is not possible for them to determine the cause of death. So, in summary, he is saying the cause of death cannot be ascertained. And when you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear. No particular reason.”

Wahab Shittu

According to Shittu, the pathologist further stated that the late singer might have died due to a reaction to certain drugs administered to him before he died.

“He went further to say that he does not know whether it is those drugs that led to the death,” he [Wahab Shittu] added.

The senior counsel urged the public not to react sharply to the development, noting that the pathologist who gave the report was an expert.

“Don’t react until you have seen the full report. As I speak to you, I have not seen the full report. The court has advised that we should apply for the full report. If somebody says this is the final verdict. He must have reasons why he said so. So, look at not only the final verdict but look, also, at the reasons he gave before arriving at the final verdict.

“What is important is that this pathologist has given his evidence today and we have taken a day to cross-examine and ask him questions on the report. Until those questions are asked, we cannot say this is the outcome.”

Wahab Shittu

Mohbad, a former record label signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, died on September 12 at the age of 27, with the circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversy on social media.

Some Nigerians on social media have blamed the Nigerian system following the revelation of the autopsy conducted on the body of the late singer.

“They never seem to get anything right in this country. Bad people be getting away with a lot of things because they have money, sad.”

@kayzywizzzy

“Uwa was raped and killed in Benin in 2020- No Justice. Sylvester was molested and died in school- No justice Mohbad died mysteriously- No justice still. These names are only but a few unwarranted deaths that didn’t get justice. Is there really a justice system in this country?”

@Ayomiepat_

“This is too sad to see. A young man killed for nothing. What is the value of a Nigerian life?”

Mohbad’s Dad Exits Courtroom

Mohbad’s dad, Joseph Aloba and the late Mohbad

A video shows the emotional moment when the late singer, Mohbad’s dad exited the courtroom while the pathologist gave a breakdown on his son’s autopsy test at the coroner’s inquest.

Joseph Aloba explicitly stated his inability to endure witnessing the unfolding details.

The clip captured him grappling with immense grief in a car, unable to bear the weight of the forensic examination of his son’s passing as he fought back his tears.

A man who was with Mohbad’s dad disclosed how the pathologist displayed everything on a projector while detailing the test result.

Addressing claims circulating about fresh blood found on Mohbad’s coffin, he stated that the pathologist clarified that the appearance of redness was due to a mixture of rainwater and soil during the exhumation process, rather than actual blood, adding that it rained a day before Mohbad was exhumed.

Furthermore, the pathologist dismissed speculations of Mohbad being buried alive, affirming that he died before burial.

Additionally, the pathologist refuted claims of strangulation, demonstrating through examination of removed neck tissues that such trauma had not occurred.

Moreover, samples of Mohbad’s liver and kidney were displayed via a projector, confirming the absence of poisoning.

The update has triggered a lot of comments from netizens who expressed disappointment over the result.
