Quick Action Reveals Singer’s Situation As ‘Family Matter’

Quick Action and Okomfuor Kwadee

Music producer Joseph Appiah, popularly known as Quick Action, has described Okomfour Kwadee’s health as a “family matter”.

A recent video of Kwadee who looks emaciated and unkempt, performing at a gathering, has raised serious concerns among music fans and creative industry stakeholders.

The video has since stoked a conversation about the current mental health status and general financial condition of the ‘Ofie Nipa’ hitmaker who has been to rehab many times in the past years.

Quick Action, a close friend of Kwadee, stated that he last heard from him in November 2023. According to him, he was told by the musician that he had traveled to his hometown for a family reunion.

He, however, noted that he tried to reach out to Kwadee but his number did not go through.

“It has become a family matter so I can’t say much about it. No matter how much you love someone, you can never take medicine for them. There is a limit to what you can do for anybody.”

According to Quick Action, although he had offered help to the artiste in the past, he later received flak from a section of the public that he was rather exploiting him.

“There was a programme that I led him to perform at the RTP awards. People started accusing me of using Kwadee’s money for my trip to London. Meanwhile, Kwadee had gone for the performance money himself when I had not even returned to Ghana.”

Quick Action

Quick Action is not the only one that has faced challenges in trying to offer support to Kwadee. Abraham Ohene Djan, Ogunskele of 2Toff Fame, Hammer Nti of Pure FM, and Evangelist Lord Kenya had all tried to get medical relief for him but to no avail.

Kwadee’s mother is reported to have, on several occasions, obstructed any intervention from friends and stakeholders of the creative industry, a behavior that has gotten a lot of these industry people disinterested in getting closer to Kwadee.

Reacting to the possibility of the creative industry offering help for the artiste, Quick Action disclosed God is involved.

“We pray for him, myself and my wife, we always pray for him and we know we are going to see some positive results.”

Kwadee’s unique style of rapping and singing, together with his captivating story-telling prowess, set him apart from his contemporaries.

He is known for songs such as ‘Abrantie’, ‘Ofie Nipa’, ‘Meko M’anim’, ‘Yeko Mmaa Pe’, ‘Ataa Adwoa’, and ‘Boyz Boyz’, among others.

Stakeholders Urged To Support Artists

Ghanaian television host, Amanda Jissih urged for unity among stakeholders in the entertainment industry to support artists facing personal struggles.

Speaking about the plight of musician Okomfuor Kwadee, Jissih emphasized that the challenges faced by many entertainers go beyond substance abuse and are often overlooked by families and the public.

“A lot of people are struggling in this industry. If you take a phone and call some people, you will realize many artists are going through a lot, but their families are watching them. You may think they are okay or are out of the country. But they are here with us, going through this.

“If we are waiting for organizations like GHAMRO or MUSIGA, etc., we will be waiting for a long time. Not because they don’t want to, but because there are a lot of people in similar conditions who need help.”

Amanda Jissih

She urged those with personal connections and the means to contribute financially to step forward and assist the musician to get back on his feet.

She acknowledged that providing the necessities, including securing accommodation and a caretaker, would entail significant expenses but remained hopeful that a solution would be found.

“We, the stakeholders in the entertainment industry, have to join forces in supporting Okomfour Kwadee. We hope that people who know him personally and have money to donate will do so.

“It would be difficult, but we can’t wait for these bodies or institutions. If we are to seek help for him, we have to get him accommodation and a caretaker; all this would require extra costs. It’s a big package. But there has to be a way.”

Amanda Jissih

Her comments come on the back of viral videos of popular musician, Okomfuor Kwadee, who appeared to be deteriorated.
