NDC Suspends Amenfi Central Executives Over Anti-Party Activities

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended several executives, including its Constituency Chairman in the Amenfi Central Constituency.

The suspension, announced by the party’s General Secretary, Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, stems from alleged anti-party activities by the said executives of the party in the Amenfi Central Constituency that have led to significant internal disruptions.

“The affected executives include Raphael Andoh Kwaw, Constituency Chairman; Ms. Richmond Aleke, Constituency Organizer: Madam Grace Kwaw, Women’s Organizer; and Madam Janet Fynn, Deputy Women’s Organizer. The suspension is for an initial period of six (6) months and may be subject to renewal”.

Mr Kwetey recounted that these executives in question were reportedly involved in actions that resulted in a High Court placing an injunction on Joana Cudjoe Gyan, the elected parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the upcoming general in the Amenfi Central Constituency.

He further stated that the decision to suspend these executives was finalized following a crucial meeting of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party.

Furthermore, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey emphasized that the affected executives’ membership to the party is also suspended during the six-month period.

Mr Kwetey stressed that the suspensions are in effect pending a thorough investigation by the party’s National Disciplinary Committee, underscoring the National Democratic Congress’s commitment to addressing breaches of party discipline and maintaining internal cohesion.

Additionally, Mr Kwetey announced that the party’s incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Amenfi Central Constituency, Honorable Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, who was defeated by Joana Cudjoe in the party’s primaries, has been summoned for interrogation by the Political Committee of the party.

This summons, he noted aims to clarify his role and involvement in the ongoing issues within the constituency.

Interim Presidential Task Force

Moreover, in a move to ensure effective campaign operations, Mr Kwetey stated that the National Democratic Congress has established an interim Presidential Campaign Task Force for the Amenfi Central Constituency.

Mr Kwetey added that the task force will be chaired by Joana Cudjoe Gyan, the party’s elected parliamentary candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency to steer the party’s campaign efforts in the area.

He emphasized that the party decided to ensure the continuity of the campaign efforts while awaiting the final court verdict on the legitimacy of Mrs Joana Cudjeo Gyan.

“In the meantime, the party has put together an interim presidential campaign task force for the Amenfi Central Constituency to be chaired by Mrs. Joana Gyan until further notice”.

In addition, the chief scribe of the opposition party reiterated that these measures are crucial for maintaining the party’s integrity and unity.

He urged all members to remain steadfast in their loyalty and commitment to the National Democratic Congress’s principles and objectives.

He emphasized that the swift and decisive actions taken by the party leadership are intended to reinforce discipline and solidarity within the ranks, ensuring that the NDC remains focused and united in its political endeavours.

The High Court in Sekondi in the Western region, in an earlier order injuncted Joana Cudjoe Gyan from holding herself as the Parliamentary Candidate elected for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Amenfi Central on allegations that she forged her voter ID and NDC party card.

The order of the Court presided over by Justice G. K Gyan-Kontoh also restrained the National Democratic Congress, who is the second defendant in the matter from allowing Mrs Joana Cudjoe Gyan to be held out, dealt with in any way, or recognized as the duly elected Parliamentary Candidate for the party in the Amenfi Central Constituency.
