Renowned Ghanaian musician Dada Kwakye Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, has shared his experience of being mistreated by some celebrities during the 2020 general elections.

Dada KD recounted how his efforts to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo through a street musical concert were overshadowed by his colleagues.

“I met two people and went to see the President with them to make a plea. Agya Koo and Pasco were the ones I accompanied. We proposed a campaign strategy involving music and concerts to support Akufo-Addo during the 2024 elections.”

However, Dada KD revealed that he felt mistreated when the funds were released.

“Akufo-Addo responded to our request by providing funds and other resources. They allocated two billion Ghana Cedis for purchasing instruments and a car for the street campaign.”

Dada KD

Dada KD expressed his disappointment with his colleagues, feeling betrayed by their actions.

He lamented that despite being the originator of the campaign strategy, he did not receive any share of the resources allocated for the initiative.

“In the end, Agya Koo took GH¢40,000 worth of instruments for himself, Pasco took the Tundra, and I received nothing, despite being the one who introduced the idea.”

Dada KD

Meanwhile, Agya Koo has previously denied enriching himself with NPP campaign funds. According to him, his decision to campaign for the NPP stems from his love for the party and belief in its values.

He clarified that there is no iota of truth in claims that the NPP has helped him to survive financially following the near-collapse state of the Kumawood movie industry.

Dada Kwakye Duah expressed his disappointment with the governance of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He feels that the President has not lived up to expectations since taking office, and certain events during his term have cast him in a negative light.

Dada KD pointed out that the Ghana Police Service’s arrests of those who strongly criticize the Akufo-Addo administration are a threatening strategy used by the President to silence rebels.

“I’m very disappointed. It’s not that the NPP isn’t performing well in governance, but rather it’s the Akufo-Addo administration that has let us down. Regardless of whether he approves or not, we won’t vote for him again.

“I’m aware that national security can detain me if I sound too critical. They use such measures to suppress their critics.”

Dada KD

The Akufo-Addo administration has faced criticism from political analysts and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the police’s practice of arresting journalists and others who criticize the government for its failures. Captain Smart, among others, has been subjected to these targeted police arrests.

Social Commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus berated the President of Ghana over his revenge.

He stated while the King of the Ashanti Kingdom continues to ensure that he brokers peace between ethnic groups, the President still keeps malice with people he has problems with.

He wrote in a post on social media.

“Otumfour is uniting ethnic groups. Akufo Addo cannot unite Hopeson Adoye and NPP! At 80, he still has enemies? Wei.”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II over the weekend made a triumphant entry into the Ga Dangbe Kingdom after several years.

A durbar was organized by the Ga Mantse to honor the Ashanti King. Speaking at the event, the Ashanti King reminded the people of Ga Dangbe to live harmoniously indicating that wars are a thing of the past.

He stressed that the current wars that need to be fought are the wars for development.
