Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has lashed out at her junior colleague, Yvonne Jegede, for defending her nephew, Yul Edochie.
Yvonne Jegede defended Yul Edochie for marrying a second wife as she slammed those criticizing him and praising Regina Daniels.
Her statement didn’t sit well with many social media users who mercilessly dragged her for being insensitive and ignoring May Edochie’s pains.
Following the backlash, she apologized to her fans and May, stating that she didn’t articulate her words properly to convey her trust intentions and acknowledged May’s pains and hardship during her marriage.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Rita Edochie noted how people insult others on social media and later ask for forgiveness, which doesn’t come from their heart.
She admonished the public to always dig deep before they talk to avoid harming someone’s emotions unknowingly.
“You see, ehn, I wouldn’t have addressed this issue since an apology has been tendered, but then the apology hasn’t gone as viral as the podcast, which has caused a whole lot of backlash and that’s why I am talking on this.
“I must say this: Yvonne Jegede, my daughter, I was highly disappointed at what you said recently during that podcast. Let us agree your words were misunderstood, but to be frank, I was hurt.”

Addressing Yvonne, she expressed her disappointment as she revealed that her statement shook her to the marrow. She slammed her for comparing Yul to Ned Nwoko as she noted how Ned is a Muslim and his religion permits him to marry multiple wives.
“Let me ask you one question, if May Edochie was your sister, wouldn’t you have protected her interest? No one is saying polygamy is a sin or an abomination, but you can agree with me it comes with surrounding chaos that threatens one’s life and peace of mind, it’s funny how people have refused to shun it.”

She noted how Yul is free to marry as many wives as he wants; unfortunately, the way he went about it was worse as he humiliated May Edochie.
Lawyer Spills Messy Details About the Edochie’s Divorce
Messy drama continued to surround May and Yul Edochie’s divorce saga as the lawyer of the woman opened more cans of worms.
It was reported that May’s lawyer had claimed that the actor was a deadbeat father.
He accused Yul of halting the payment of his children’s school fees, a responsibility that Ned, in contrast, consistently fulfills. This abandonment of duty, he argued, is a key reason why Yul faces relentless criticism while Ned enjoys widespread support.
The lawyer alleged that Yul, when approached by his daughter Danielle for school fees, callously told her that her mother, May, who purportedly earns more than him, should shoulder the financial burden.
The attorney said, on the contrary, that Ned not only covers his children’s school fees but also assumes financial responsibility for various household expenses.
In a new video made by the lawyer, he alleged that Yul was violent towards May, which was why she had to seek protection from the court and file for divorce.
Issuing some threats and warnings, the man stated he was ready to speak even if May did not permit him.
He warned the couple to stop granting interviews that would put the lives of his client and kids at risk. Speaking further, the lawyer claimed Yul and his second wife were making everyone look stupid as he told them to stop misleading the public.
