Ablakwa supports Mahama's highlights on Ghana's debt

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Foreign Minister

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu has revealed that Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, did not appear in court during the lawsuit he filed against Ablakwa, despite being the plaintiff in the case.

Hon. Ablakwa pointed out that Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng has evaded accountability for his alleged double identity scam, which a High Court Judge has already condemned as criminal behavior, yet he remains unheld and unpunished for his actions.

“Even though we just secured another legal victory at the Appeal Court with the grounds of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng/Kwabena Adu Gyamfi being struck out as incompetent and the GHS3,000.00 cost awarded against him, I have been reflecting on the state of our country, particularly as he keeps filing more appeals”.

Furthermore, Ablakwa lamented that, as a Member of Parliament, he is being subjected to relentless judicial harassment, simply for fulfilling his constitutional duty of oversight, and wondered why he is being punished for his patriotism, wasting his valuable time in the process.

He emphasized that the time he is forced to waste on these legal battles could be better spent on his parliamentary duties, such as scrutinizing government spending, safeguarding public assets, and promoting transparency and accountability, all of which are essential to strengthening democratic governance and serving the public interest.

Hon. Ablakwa also raised concerns that this unfortunate saga would have a chilling effect on parliamentary oversight, discouraging other MPs from conducting rigorous and fearless scrutiny of the executive branch, for fear of facing similar harassment and intimidation tactics.

Undeterred by the persistent obstacles, unjust persecution, and brazen impunity, Ablakwa vowed to continue his unwavering pursuit of truth, accountability, and justice, refusing to be silenced or intimidated by the forces seeking to undermine his constitutional mandate.

He pledged that he and like-minded citizens will persist in their fight for a better Ghana, undaunted by the challenges and obstacles, and will continue to champion the cause of justice, transparency, and accountability, for the benefit of the nation and its people.

Court Rejects Rev. Boateng’s Bid To Silence Ablakwa, Again

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal has dismissed an application by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral project, aimed at gagging Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, from making public statements about him in relation to the National Cathedral project.

The Court of Appeal dismissed the application, stating that the grounds of appeal filed by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s legal team failed to meet the court’s procedural requirements, thereby rendering the appeal ineligible for consideration.

“The grounds are incompetent and inadmissible” and struck it out. The application was against the rules of the Court of Appeal that says the Appellant must clearly state where the judge erred.”

Court of Appeal

Consequently, the Court of Appeal ordered Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng to pay costs of GH₵ 3,000 to the respondent, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as a result of the unsuccessful and non-compliant appeal.

This latest dismissal on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, marks the third consecutive failed attempt by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, to secure a restraining order against Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, demonstrating a persistent and unsuccessful effort to silence the Member of Parliament.

In a bid to reverse their fortunes in a high-profile legal battle that has captivated public attention, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s legal team submitted supplementary arguments to the court, hoping to sway the judges’ decision in their favor, but ultimately failed to secure the desired outcome.

The Court of Appeal also dismissed an appeal filed by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s legal team, which challenged the reconstitution of the panel hearing the case, thereby upholding the original panel’s composition and allowing the case to proceed without further interruption.
