Multiple award-winning musician, Kofi Kinaata has disclosed that he intentionally decided not to do high-tempo danceable songs on his ‘Kofi O Kofi’ Extended Play (EP).

He noted that he just wanted it to be a listening EP.

“So I felt very free on it without thinking about anything specifically. Maybe like making some of the songs on my EP, a speed tempo so that people can dance to it but not at all, I just did what I felt like doing.”

Kofi Kinaata

According to the ‘Auntie Ama’ crooner, he wanted people to listen to the songs on his Extended Play (EP) instead of dancing to them unlike doing just a single track.

“This is an EP so I have a lot of songs on it, unlike a one-track where you want to use one stone to kill about 10 birds and touch several things.

“But this EP has seven songs so if you don’t like one of the songs, you might like the songs so I felt free on the songs when recording.”

Kofi Kinaata hailed the “Fante” music legends for their evergreen songs and also revealed he is not yet near the legacy set by the likes of Ebo Taylor, Papa Yankson, and others.

He acknowledged the fact that, with time, he will also be there, but he disclosed that he highly respects the works done by these great artists and strongly believes they have done everything in music.

“What the likes of Ebo Taylor and the legendary veterans have done in the Ghanaian music scene, some of us in the current generation cannot do. It’s just that now it’s our time to do our own thing and play our part, so we continue holding on until a lot of people also get involved.”

Kofi Kinaata also stressed the fact that the songs produced by these legends are evergreen, and as of today, when he hears some of their songs, he feels they have done everything in music.

He appreciated the fact that people also feel he is holding on to the fancy legacy.

“I’m glad that people feel that I’m holding on to the Fante legacy in the music space, but I’ve got nothing on them to continue what the legends did,” Kofi Kinaata said.

Kofi Kinaata’s “Effiakuma Love” won the Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards and he looks forward to breaking many grounds with his music.

Kofi Kinaata extended his congratulations to popular actor, Kwadwo Nkansah, Lil Win, for getting a nomination with his movie ‘A Country Called Ghana’.

The latest movie of Ghanaian actor, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win, has gained a nomination and is scheduled to be screened at the 2024 Nollywood Film Festival in Germany.

“Lil Win’s movie is a nice idea and it’s a move that will bring a lot of attention to Ghanaian movies. The way he brought the likes of Ramsey, and others has brought the attention of Nigerians here as well.

“They are talking about the movie ‘A Country Called Ghana’ due to the hype and controversies surrounding it so the Nigerians he brought also have their fans and when they post it, it’ll bring a lot of attention to it.”
