Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Nominated as NPP Vice Presidential Candidate

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate, New Patriotic Party and MP Manhyia South

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as “Napo,” has been officially nominated as the Vice Presidential candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming 2024 general elections

The Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Dr. Prempeh in an appreciation statement, expressed profound gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by the party’s flagbearer, and Vice President, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the entire NPP leadership.

“I am deeply honored today as the chosen running mate of the New Patriotic Party. I am humbled to be nominated by our distinguished flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and endorsed unanimously by the National Council in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution”.

A Call to Higher Service

Dr. Prempeh, reflecting on his nomination, described it as a divine calling, stating that “I view this nomination as part of God’s plan for my life, and I am grateful for His guidance in directing my path”.

Acknowledgment of Party Stalwarts

Recognizing the depth of talent within the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh acknowledged the honor of being selected among many capable candidates.

He called for unity and collective effort from all party members, stating that “The NPP is enriched with numerous astute personalities; therefore, I recognize the significance of my selection and do not take it lightly”.

The Manhyia South lawmaker further emphasized the need for all members of the ruling party to join hands as the party collectively strives to achieve its ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation by winning the December 7 polls.

Gratitude to Party Leadership and Supporters

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Prempeh thanked the National Council, the party’s rank-and-file, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for their unwavering support.

He highlighted his appreciation for being entrusted with two cabinet positions in the current administration, which he believes have prepared him for this significant role.

“I thank Mr. President again for the opportunity granted me to serve in two respected cabinet positions. I am forever grateful. I am equally grateful to my colleague Ministers of State and members of Parliament for the confidence reposed in me. It has prepared me for a day like this, and I feel ready to make everyone who believes in me proud and win over the doubters.”

Commitment to the 2024 Campaign

Expressing his commitment towards the governing party’s ambitious vision of breaking the eight, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort as the party embarks on the campaign trail.

He made a heartfelt plea to every party member to support the campaign to break the eight-year electoral cycle.

As he assumes his new role, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, and leading a formidable campaign to win the 2024 general elections.

“As I assume the role of running mate alongside my esteemed boss, H.E. Dr. Bawumia, I am committed to supporting him to prosecute a formidable 2024 campaign to break the 8-year election cycle and serve our beloved country diligently. Let us work together towards a brighter future for Ghana.”

In closing his remarks, Dr. Prempeh reiterated his core philosophies of service and leadership, calling upon divine blessings for the New Patriotic Party and the country.
