Ablakwa Lauds MLGRD’s Action to Halt Sale of State Lands

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has commended the Local Government Minister, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, for his timely intervention to stop the unauthorized sale and misuse of state lands.

The North Tongu MP emphasized the importance of preserving green spaces for the collective survival of humanity.

“Another impressive intervention from the Local Government Minister, this time to stop the looting of our Parks and Gardens land in the Upper West regional capital, following my parliamentary oversight”.

He vowed to maintain strict parliamentary vigilance to ensure the Wa fuel station project is not only halted but eventually demolished, asserting that “We need our green spaces preserved for our collective human survival”.

Honorable Ablakwa further emphasized his stance against state capture and land looting, underscoring the need for united, patriotic action to defeat the “greedy, destructive, and marauding forces of ‘lootocratic’ darkness.”

He cautioned against those conspiring to entrench their devious state-capture agenda, asserting that “They would have no peace from the Ghanaian people to enjoy their loot”, adding that “State capture shall surely be defeated!”.

Illegal Occupation Of Parks And Gardens Land In Cantonments

In an earlier remark, the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency commended the Local Government Minister for acting against the illegal occupation of Parks and Gardens land in Cantonments by Dani Ike Estate Developers.

“My field checks earlier today confirm that the Local Government Minister has kept his word by removing Dani Ike’s containers on Parks and Gardens land in Cantonments following his pledge in Parliament when he responded to my urgent questions”.

The MP pointed out that the shadowy Dani Ike Estate Developers, led by one Rev. Ezekiel, can now retrieve their removed containers and seek refunds from their alleged collaborators in the government.

Ablakwa further praised the Minister’s patriotic stance in standing with Ghanaians fighting state capture.

He promised continued vigilance to ensure that the Minister fulfills his other promises, particularly addressing the Wa situation where a private developer, with the backing of the Lands Commission, is constructing a fuel station on Parks and Gardens land.

In his resolute tone, the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs reaffirmed his commitment to the fight against state capture, declaring that “No matter how daunting, state capture shall surely be defeated!”.

Mahama’s Commitment to Stop Sale of State Lands

On the other hand, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency expressed his admiration for former President John Dramani Mahama’s unwavering commitment to preventing the sale of state lands.

This endorsement, he noted follows Mr Mahama’s comprehensive and inspiring media engagement where he assured the nation that no member of his administration would be permitted to purchase state assets.

The North Tongu legislator,  a staunch advocate against state capture and corruption, hailed the National Democratic Congress flagbearer’s stance, describing it as both refreshing and pivotal for the nation’s integrity.

He highlighted the former President’s masterful, inspirational, and sincere approach during the media engagement, describing it as intellectually stimulating and a beacon of hope for Ghanaians tired of the misuse of state resources by political figures.

“It is most refreshing to hear former President John Mahama assure the nation during his masterful, inspirational, sincere, and intellectually stimulating engagement with the media that no member of his government will be allowed to buy state assets,”

He emphasized that Mr Mahama’s commitment is a significant step towards restoring public trust in the government and ensuring that state resources are used for the benefit of all citizens, not just a privileged few.

Despite raising concerns that President Akufo-Addo might not approve his proposed bill to curtail the sale of state assest to politicians , Honorable Ablakwa expressed confidence that former President John Dramani Mahama would not hesitate to grant presidential assent to this crucial legislation should he win the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.

Honorable Ablakwa concluded by emphasizing that former President John Dramani Mahama’s statement underscores the belief among many Ghanaians that his return to power would mark a significant shift towards greater accountability and ethical governance in Ghana.
