Joyce Bawah Mogtari Underscores Mahama’s Resolute Stance Against Corruption

Former President John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer Speaking at his recent media encounter

The Spokesperson for the Mahama 2024 Campaign Team, Joyce Bawah Mogtari Esq. has underscored the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, former President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to combating corruption.

Mrs. Mogtari, who also doubled as the Special Aide to the former President, in a strong defense of the latter, highlighted Mr. Mahama’s unwavering dedication to ensuring transparency and accountability within Ghana’s governance when elected as the country’s President.

“When God blesses you, no machinations of your detractor will succeed. John Mahama has boldly declared that 7 years and 7 months after leaving office as president, he is still waiting for the Akufo-Addo gov’t to prove even one of their several unfounded and politically-motivated allegations that were made against him and his administration prior to 2016”.

Prosecution of Corruption Government’s Officials

She recounted Mr Mahama’s pledge that, upon resuming office, he would not hesitate to investigate and bring to justice corrupt officials, regardless of whether they served under his administration or the preceding one.

“Mr Mahama challenged and reminded the apostles of ‘corruption was endemic prior to the 2016 elections’ and that as a person, he could not investigate himself under the current administration. But as president, he had demonstrated his commitment to the fight against corruption. He boldly shone the torch of accountability on the darkness of incidences of corruption wherever they occurred without regret, and is poised to do more”.

Moreover, the Spokesperson for the Mahama 2024 Campaign Team, Joyce Bawah Mogtari Esq. echoed the National Democratic Congress flagbearer’s criticism of the current administration, highlighting the reports from civil society organizations (CSOs) like the Ghana Integrity Initiative.

These organizations, she mentioned have publicly condemned the current political leadership as the most corrupt in recent history, giving them a damning score of zero in their purported fight against corruption.

However, Lawyer Mogtari reaffirmed Mr Mahama’s calls on Ghanaians to maintain their firm stance against corruption, voicing concerns about the ongoing state capture of public assets under the New Patriotic Party administration.

According to her former President John Dramani Mahama’s critique extended to the entrenched greed and serious allegations of corruption against appointees of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

She indicated that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer has on countless occasions lambasted the current administration for its apparent complicity, with many corruption cases being dismissed by President Akufo-Addo, who, he claimed, has now assumed the role of a “clearing agent”.

Lawyer Mogtari further pointed out that in an era where the battle against corruption is more crucial than ever, former President John Dramani Mahama’s legacy and future promises provide hope for a more transparent and accountable Ghana.

She emphasized that former President John Dramani Mahama’s renewed pledge to empower anti-corruption agencies underscores a critical aspect of his political agenda, ensuring that no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of justice and the country’s fight against corruption, graft, and state capture.

The National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, in his recent media encounter, emphasized his commitment to fighting corruption and drastically reducing the size of government.

He chastised President Akufo-Addo for using over 120 ministers and deputy ministers, but yet running the country’s economy “aground”.

Mr Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to run a lean, highly effective, and efficient government of no more than 60 (sixty) ministers and deputy ministers when elected the President of the country.
