Ohemaa Mercy Rebukes Christian Personality Worship, Grieves

Ohemaa Mercy

Celebrated Ghanaian Gospel artist, Ohemaa Mercy has worriedly observed the lack of discernment among Christians.

The Gospel star responded positively when the host opined that the preaching of some church leaders was unprofitable to God’s children.

“That’s true. If indeed the spirit of God is within you as you sit in the chapel listening to the preacher’s lies and deception, he [the spirit] will warn you through the discernment spirit and tell you you’re at the wrong place.”

Ohemaa Mercy

The singer-songwriter lamented that a lot of Christians are in the wrong places, noting, with visible concern, that the lying preachers [ironically] have the larger following.

She argued the phenomenon is due to a lot of people looking up to man and not God.

The award-winning Gospel artist rebuked the personality worship on the part of Christians and the abuse of power by religious leaders.

“We are constantly lied to because we feel that God is the person standing there. We believe in man more than God. I am perplexed that even bodily fluids like ‘urine’ and ‘spittle’ from religious leaders are considered hallowed by some.

“Some will collect the spittle and apply it on themselves because they see the person as God. I strongly warn you all that you should be very careful! Mind what you are doing because you are on slippery ground.”

She again wondered why the truth is known but chose to become slaves to fellow humans.

Despite the worrying trend, Ohemaa Mercy took time to encourage her audience to put aside their desperation expressed in chasing after men of God and rather passionately work on their relationship with God.

“There’s a God who answers prayer in a twinkle of an eye. The only issue is you are not friends with him and so you see him so far away. You have now thought to yourself he is in humans so you have also put your trust in humans.”

Ohemaa Mercy

Expressing shock at the extraordinary miracles lying preachers use as baits, she cited: “They’ll even promise to heal a decapitated man.”

“I plead for the mercy of God,” the humanitarian and Edin Jesus hitmaker prayed.

Singer Reveals Gospel Music as a Full-time Business

Running a gospel music business, like any other business, requires financial resources to cover various expenses such as production costs, marketing, promotion, distribution, equipment, venue rental, and artist fees, among others.

Generating revenue through album sales, concerts, merchandise, royalties, and sponsorships helps sustain and grow the business.

Additionally, seeking funding through grants, investors, or partnerships also supports the financial needs of a gospel music business.

Ohemaa Mercy added her voice to the discussion of Gospel artists and charging money for performances and events.

The “Ote Me Mu” hitmaker opened up about the Gospel music industry, highlighting both its spiritual rewards and its financial demands.

Ohemaa Mercy stated that while the ministry is spiritually fulfilling and comes with divine blessings, it is also expensive and requires costs that need to be paid.

“This ministry is full of sacrifices, and those sacrifices do not go unnoticed; God will definitely bless you in one way or another. But as much as there is the spiritual side which has its own blessings, there is also a business side to it that requires money.

“For example, as a Gospel artiste, I have staff to pay; I have to cover expenses like fuel and bills, book venues, and promote shows. All of that requires money. So yes, there are blessings, there are people who God will send to help you.”

Ohemaa Mercy

According to her, Gospel music is a professional business.

“But that doesn’t mean Gospel musicians don’t need money; Gospel music is a full-time business … You need money to run it,” she said.
