MTN Ghana Reaches 80% Completion in Nationwide Network Upgrade

Thomas Motlepa, the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of MTN Ghana

MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications company in the country, announced that it has reached 80% completion of its nationwide network upgrade, a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance network services across the country.

The project, which commenced in June 2024, is slated for completion by the end of August 2024. This upgrade involves the replacement of existing mobile network infrastructure with more efficient and environmentally friendly equipment, aiming to deliver a more reliable and robust network for its customers.

Thomas Motlepa, the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of MTN Ghana, expressed the company’s dedication to providing top-tier network services. “Our customers remain at the core of our business,” Motlepa stated.

“This upgrade will ensure that we have a more reliable and robust network and help to achieve network virtualization and increased capacity for optimum service delivery,” Motlepa stated. His remarks underscore MTN Ghana’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to meet the growing demands of its customer base.

Motlepa extended his gratitude to stakeholders and customers for their patience and support during the upgrade process. He acknowledged that the network modernization efforts have caused some intermittent disruptions but assured that these are temporary and necessary for long-term improvements. “We are thankful to our valued customers and stakeholders for their patience and support during the period, especially as we experienced some intermittent network disruptions,” he said.

Customer Support During Upgrades

MTN Ghana is committed to minimizing the impact of the upgrade on its customers. Those experiencing any disruptions can call the MTN toll-free number 100 or reach out via the company’s social media handles for assistance. This proactive approach ensures that customer concerns are addressed promptly, maintaining a high level of service even during the upgrade period.

The network upgrade is part of MTN Ghana’s broader strategy to invest US$1 billion in its network by 2025. This ambitious investment plan reflects the company’s confidence in the Ghanaian market and its commitment to long-term growth and service excellence. By expanding coverage, improving customer data experience, and promoting sustainable practices, MTN Ghana aims to solidify its position as the leading telecommunications provider in the country.

A key aspect of the upgrade is the incorporation of more efficient and environmentally friendly equipment. This move aligns with MTN Ghana’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint. By modernizing its network infrastructure, the company not only enhances service quality but also contributes to broader environmental goals, positioning itself as a responsible corporate citizen.

The completion of the network upgrade will significantly enhance the customer experience. With increased network capacity and reliability, customers can expect fewer disruptions and improved data speeds. This is particularly important in today’s digital age, where reliable connectivity is crucial for both personal and professional activities. MTN Ghana’s investment in advanced network technology ensures that it can meet the evolving needs of its customers, providing them with the best possible service.

As the upgrade project nears completion, MTN Ghana remains focused on its goals. The company is set to achieve network virtualization, which will further enhance its ability to manage network resources efficiently and provide scalable services. This forward-thinking approach positions MTN Ghana to continue leading the market, delivering innovative solutions that drive growth and customer satisfaction.

With a clear commitment to customer satisfaction, sustainable practices, and strategic investments, MTN Ghana is well on its way to achieving its vision of unparalleled service delivery. As the company approaches the final phase of the upgrade, customers can look forward to a more reliable and robust network, setting the stage for continued growth and innovation in Ghana’s telecommunications sector.
