NDC Shifts Campaign Strategy to Community Engagement and Retail Outreach

Sammy Gyamfi Esq., the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined a significant shift in the party’s campaign strategy ahead of the 2024 December 7th general elections.

According to Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, the opposition party intends to move away from the traditional large rallies and adopt a more grassroots and community-focused approach.

“For those who love rallies, tomorrow is their day because after tomorrow, I don’t think the NDC is likely to hold, a rally before the 7th December election. Our campaign is going to be community-based. It’s going to be very organic.  We are reaching out to Ghanaians in every nook and cranny with our message of transformation”.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi further pointed out that the National Democratic Congress’s decision to prioritize retail campaigning is intended to ensure that the party’s message of hope and transformation reaches every household.

He underscored the importance of involving all supporters in the campaign efforts.

“We want everybody to get involved in the dissemination of our messages and in the campaign. We’re going to be deemphasizing the large rallies that you’ve seen in previous campaigns. This time around it’s going to be retail campaigning and community-based engagements. We are bringing the message to you”.

Calls for Active Involvement

The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress therefore called on all party supporters to play an active role in the campaign within their communities, regardless of their status or household.

He highlighted the various avenues through which supporters could contribute, including their residential areas, workplaces, churches, and mosques.

“Especially for the NDC supporters listening to me, you should know that there is certainly a role you can play in the party’s campaign where you live. You must make sure that all the people there are persuaded by the NDC’s message of hope,” Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi urged.

To ensure the effective implementation of this strategy, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi further indicated that the NDC has put in place measures to limit the size of the flagbearer’s convoy in his tour and campaign across the country.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi assured that significant figures within the party would not join the convoy, thus avoiding long or large convoys.

“Appropriate measures are being put in place to ensure that the flagbearer’s convoy is not long or large. The leaders and heads of the main campaign teams have clear guidelines for the management of the campaign. They are not going to allow long convoys or even ordinary people to follow the flagbearer from one community to the other”.

According to him, the NDC’s campaign will be managed by key figures within the party, including Professor Joshua Alabi, who chairs the flagbearer’s campaign team, Honorable Alex Segbafia, who manages the running mate’s campaign team, and the National Chairman, who will lead the team.

He also indicated that other special teams will also be deployed, each with specific guidelines to ensure the campaign’s smooth execution.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi concluded by emphasizing the inclusive nature of the NDC’s campaign, stating that every supporter would have a role to play.

“Rather than following the flagbearer, we will give you an area for you to go to do house to house, door to door, share paraphernalia of the party, and spread the message of hope of the party. It’s going to be all hands on deck. Everybody will have a role to play rather than just following the flagbearer and the running mate doing nothing”.

Sammy Gyamfi Esq., National Communications Officer of the NDC

He emphasized that the NDC’s shift to a more personalized and community-focused campaign approach reflects the party’s commitment to engaging directly with the electorate and ensuring that their message resonates across all levels of society as the December 7th elections approach.
