Amerado Reveals Why He Quit Job to Chase Glory

Amerado

Award-winning musician, Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, popularly known as Amerado, who was born and raised in the Ashanti Region has revealed that he quit a job in a hospital in his region of birth to come to Ghana’s capital Accra to chase glory.

According to the “Kwaku Ananse” hitmaker, he was confident about making it to Accra but was pushed by his instincts to relocate to the capital.

Amerado, the curator of ‘Yeete Nsem’, stated that he was sure going into music was the right move to enable him to achieve his aspirations and also take good care of his family.

“Before I went into the music industry, I lost my father when I was 14 years and my mother was not well to do. I have a little sister to cater for and my mother as well. So, I stopped working in a hospital to go to Accra and chase glory. I persevered to reach where I am today.

“Although I have some family members in Chicago, London and brothers in Ghana, I chose music because I knew that was what music that God will raise me. So far, so good, I’m trying my bit to be much better and great.”

Amerado added that he had to convince his mother who was not in favor of his moving to Accra to allow him to relocate.

“I was working as a Records Officer and Cashier at the Accounts Department of Living Waters Hospital at Ejisu Krapa. I worked there for four years and I told my mom that Kow had offered to support me so I have to move to Accra to see if I can make it. At the time I had rapped and done free styles for a long time in Kumasi.”

“My mom didn’t want me to go and I told her I am giving her my word. I went there, my team rented a single room for me and all I had was a computer and that was the time I met Sarkodie and we worked together on a song,” he said.

Amerado has songs with A-list musicians including Black Sheriff, Okyeame Kwame, Kuami Eugene, and Fameye.

Amerado Burner also revealed that he had ended his pursuit of a popular colleague musician for a collaboration.

The “Abotr3” hitmaker was however coy about naming the said musician insisting he wants to keep the person’s identity.

“I can’t mention the musician’s name but up until now, I am still struggling to get the person to do a collaboration with me. No, in fact, I have given up. I pushed but it never worked out.

“He is a male, but I won’t mention his name. That musician is the reason why I started singing on my own. Because I knew I could do it. He’s a very popular musician who has been singing for a long time.”

He further named musicians he looked up to as mentors.

“I like Okyeame Kwame for his decency and his affection for love, Edem for his ingenuity, he always representing his roots. Sarkodie for being very charismatic, Reggie Rockstone for his flair, and Obrafo for his vintage flow,” Amerado noted.

The “Tintontan” singer added that he’s very selective when it comes to people he loves.

Singer Mends Broken Hearts With ‘Date Rush’

Amerado has just released his latest single, ‘Date Rush’, a song that strikes a chord with those going through heartbreak.

Known for his sharp lyricism and compelling storytelling, Amerado shifts gears from social issues to focus on self-love and personal growth with this new release.

‘Date Rush’, his fourth single of the year following the release of ‘Tin Ton Tan’, ‘Point 5 Freestyle’, and ‘Abronoma’, was produced by TubhaniMuzik.

On ‘Date Rush’, the TGMA25 Best Highlife Song winner stays true to his distinctive style but this time, he explores the emotional journey of overcoming heartbreak.

He offers listeners a blend of his signature sound with a heartfelt narrative on resilience and recovery.

‘Date Rush’ diverges from the typical post-breakup narratives that dwell on sorrow, self-pity, and loss. Instead, it promotes a message of resilience and self-appreciation.

Amerado’s verses encourage listeners to rise above the pain of failed relationships and not let heartbreak define their self-worth.

The song opens with a reflective tone, addressing the emotional aftermath of a breakup.

However, it quickly pivots to a more uplifting message and urges listeners to find strength in themselves, rather than seeking validation from others.

Sharing the inspiration behind the song, Amerado said “I wanted to create something that would resonate with people who have gone through tough times in their relationships.”

“It’s easy to feel down and question your worth, but ‘Date Rush’ is about picking yourself up and realizing that you’re enough just as you are,” he revealed.
