YEA Launches School Support Programme to Empower Ghanaian Youth

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has officially opened applications for its highly anticipated School Support Programme (SSP), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

This initiative, aimed at bolstering the country’s educational infrastructure, seeks to provide vital support to schools across Ghana while offering meaningful employment opportunities to young people.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Kofi Agyepong, in a statement, highlighted the programme’s goals and the significant impact it aims to achieve.

“This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to develop skills, build your resume, and open doors to future career prospects”, Mr Agyepong emphasized.

Two Main Categories of School Support Programmes

According to him, the School Support Programme targets Ghanaian youth aged 18 to 35, offering positions in two main categories.

The first one, he noted is dubbed Community Education Teaching Assistants (CETA), offering opportunities for applicants who must have a minimum of a Diploma education.

He emphasized that the role is crucial in addressing the teacher-student ratio imbalance and ensuring that students receive more personalized attention and support.

The second category according to the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Kofi Agyapong is the School Guards & Kitchen Assistants.

Here also, Mr Agyapong pointed out that interested applicants must have at least a Senior High School (SHS) education.

These positions according to him are designed to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for students.

Mr Agyapong further indicated that School Guards will be responsible for the security and safety of school premises, while Kitchen Assistants will ensure that school meals are prepared and served hygienically and efficiently.

According to him, the programme aims to employ a total of 10,000 enthusiastic and dedicated youth, adding that beyond employment, it is a significant opportunity for personal and professional growth.

He stated that participants will gain valuable experience, develop new skills, and enhance their resumes, making them more competitive in the job market.

“Don’t miss out! Share this announcement with friends and family to spread the word and help us reach as many potential applicants as possible”, the statement read.

The YEA has set a deadline for applications on August 5, 2024, urging interested individuals to apply promptly and share the announcement with friends and family to maximize outreach.

The initiative, according the Kofi Agyapong, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency not only aims to support the educational sector but also to tackle youth unemployment by providing sustainable job opportunities.

He stressed that the SSP is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving education and creating jobs for the youth.

By participating, Mr Agyapong contended that several young Ghanaians can contribute to the development of their communities and build a foundation for their future careers.

He urged interested applicant and the general public to, visit the YEA’s official website or contact their offices directly for more information on how to apply.

In another statement, the Ministry of Finance has granted financial clearance for the recruitment of 15,200 nurses and midwives nationwide.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Health Ministry, noting that the recruitment process will commence on Monday, August 5, 2024.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for Friday, August 23 with the statement urging interested applicants to complete and submit their applications promptly within the specified time frame.
