NDC Rejects Finance Minister’s ‘Insincere’ Apology

NDC

The NDC Professionals Forum has issued a statement vehemently rejecting the Finance Minister, Mohamed Amin Adams’, half-hearted and delayed apology for the disastrous Debt Exchange Program, deeming it insincere and unacceptable.

The Forum also refused to accept apologies for the disastrous Banking Sector Clean Up and the NPP government’s failed economic policies under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, which have had far-reaching and devastating consequences.

According to the NDC Professional Forum, the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government’s policies have inflicted unparalleled suffering and hardships on the Ghanaian people, causing widespread economic pain and distress.

“…and the apology is nothing but a desperate attempt to secure public sympathy and undeserved votes in the December 7 General Elections”.

“We note that the apology is meant to douse the current flame of anger ignited by the revelations in the Agyapadie Document, which appears to be a stronger version of the Nostradamus Prophecies”.

NDC Professionals Forum

The Forum further indicated that the document has laid bare the government’s egregious economic mismanagement, characterized by deceitful tactics and reckless decision-making, which have precipitated the current economic crisis.

As such, the Forum argued that the Finance Minister’s apology is a half-hearted and calculated attempt to shift the focus from the devastating revelations of the Agyapadie document, which has unequivocally exposed the government’s economic recklessness and duplicity.

The NDC pointed out that, in essence, the Agyapadie Document facilitated a large-scale hijacking of public resources, perpetuating undue politicization and institutional corruption through partisan appointments.

This deliberate manipulation, the NDC Professional Forum noted, has undermined the integrity of state institutions and plundered public wealth for political gain.

Consequently, the Forum observed that this has culminated in a disastrous Debt Exchange Program, which has ravaged the life savings of countless innocent Ghanaians, leaving them financially devastated.

The NDC indicated that this catastrophic outcome has resulted in untold hardship and suffering for many citizens, who have seen their hard-earned resources drastically devalued.

Government’s Mismanagement Results In Banking Sector Clean-Up

The NDC Professional Forum asserted that the government’s inept resource management and egregious state capture efforts have led to a calamitous Banking Sector clean-up, which has ravaged businesses and livelihoods.

The NDC noted that this caused irreparable harm to the economy and inflicted immense hardship on countless individuals with many lives forever altered.

“[This resulted in] a colossal failure of flagship projects such as Planting for Food and Jobs, which has only served to enrich government officials and their cronies [and] a classic abuse and financial exploitation of the COVID-19 pandemic which has further exacerbated the economic crisis”.

NDC Professionals Forum

As such, the Forum emphasized that it expects more than an empty apology from the government; instead, it demands concrete actions and tangible results to address the economic devastation and restore the trust of the Ghanaian people.

The Forum also called for a radical transformation of the government’s economic agenda, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and a sweeping reform of policies to restore economic stability and trust.

The NDC Professional Forum reaffirmed that Finance Minister Adam’s apology is a weak and insincere attempt to salvage the government’s battered reputation and save face, rather than a genuine acknowledgment of responsibility.

This half-hearted apology, the Forum indicated, only serves to further erode trust in the government’s ability to manage the economy effectively.

“Ghanaians will not be fooled by this desperate attempt to manipulate public opinion”. – NDC Professional Forum

Consequently, the NDC pledged to maintain its vigilant oversight of the government, preventing it from politicizing its own failures and profiting from the suffering of the Ghanaian people.

The Forum assured that through rigorous scrutiny and advocacy, the NDC will continue to push for accountability, transparency, and good governance.

Meanwhile, the governing NPP persists in attributing the country’s economic struggles to external factors and, in a rare move, has appealed to the public for support and patience as it works to address the challenges.
