Mercy Asiedu Shares The Secret Behind Her Marriage

Mercy Asiedu

A lot of Ghanaians do not believe in celebrity marriages.

There are times when some Ghanaians can predict the number of years the marriage of a popular person will last when the marriage is announced to the public.

On April 2, 2017, 53-year-old actress Mercy Asiedu tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony with Nana Agyemang Badu Duah, the Chief of Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region, who also doubles as the CEO of Messiah Productions.

It has been seven years since the couple began their marital relationship, and the popular Kumawood actress disclosed how she has been able to sustain her marriage for such a long period.

In response to how she has sustained her marriage, Mercy Asiedu revealed that one of the moral guidelines she has applied in her seven years of marriage is patience, saying that is the secret to her blissful marriage.

“My husband and I have been married for seven years now. One of the secrets behind a good marriage is patience. When I was young, although I wasn’t old enough to get married, I used to go for women’s fellowship, and during one of the services, a pastor said when his church members come to him for marriage counseling, especially the women, he tells them that a successful marriage depends on the wife.”

She further cited an example of how a wife treated her husband when he returned home.

“An example is, let’s say, your husband went out and has kept you longing to return home. Out of anger, you refused to set the table for him, and when he asked you, you rudely directed him to the kitchen to serve himself.

“When your actions begin to generate issues, you will blame your husband for not being a good husband. In every marriage, you have to act like a fool.”

Mercy Asiedu also mentioned that she is not going to act in any uncalled-for ways that will end her marriage.

“I have said to myself that in this marriage, the only time I will take my ring off is when I die. Even with that, my husband will be the one to take it off. This is because I don’t know what will make me leave my marriage.”

Mercy Asiedu

“Maybe unless my husband runs away from me, but if he doesn’t, then I am stuck with him,” she added.

The Kumawood actress used the platform to express gratitude to her husband for how he has been supportive of every project she has undertaken relating to her career.

Actress Advises Women

Ghanaian Kumawood actress who has gained popularity in the showbiz space, Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu Agyemang Duah, has advised Ghanaian ladies to stick to one man.

There are many times that some ladies abruptly end their relationships or marriages with their spouses because they believe the new person they have developed feelings for is better than their former husbands or boyfriends.

Given this, the versatile Kumawood actress advised young ladies to try to resolve their disputes with their spouses rather than being in haste to make regrettable decisions.

“There is no perfect man in this world. Every man has a fault or a negative attitude. You think the man you are living with is not the right person for you, and that will lead to a breakup. You leave him for a different person, and for all you know, the guy you left is even better and a Roman father than the person you’re currently in a relationship with.”

Mercy Asiedu

“Every relationship or marriage has troubles,” she said.

Her advice stemmed from her response to how she has been able to keep her marriage for a longer period.
