Esther Smith

Legendary Ghanaian gospel musician and multiple award-winner, Esther Smith’s comeback after a decade of disappearing from the music industry has come with a lot of revelations about her.

She opened up about her experiences with witchcraft and black magic, often referred to as ‘juju,’ in the United Kingdom, a belief that continues to plague the Ghanaian arts and entertainment industry.

In what seems to be an extremely unexpected event where she resides in the UK, Esther spoke about how she woke up one morning to “two bones tied with a red cloth” in her doorway.

“Contrary to what Africans believe, this is a clear indication that witchcraft or ‘juju’ has no physical barriers, and there is no running away from it.”

This attempt on her life was a frightening one and came as a wake-up call to rise to do battle for her spiritual life and her ministry.

Esther Smith also shared another chilling experience from a time when she was scheduled to perform in Columbus, Ohio. On the day of the event, the church’s Head Pastor suddenly fell ill, and it was later discovered that the church had been surrounded by crates of eggs, a typical sign of ‘juju.’

Reflecting on these incidents, Esther expressed her gratitude for God’s constant protection, humorously noting that “the witches outside Africa are even more powerful and numerous than those back home”.

She ended with some words of wisdom to her listeners, advising that people should seek God properly in all things.

“There is no greater source of protection than what comes from the ‘Omnipotent One’,” she added.

Esther Smith expressed concern over some Ghanaian pastors who prioritize amassing wealth over caring for the poor in society.

Having lived in Hamburg, Germany, she observed that pastors abroad often use church funds for developmental projects and to support the vulnerable, positively impacting lives.

Esther Smith mentioned that this behavior has led some people to lose trust in the church and urged Ghanaian pastors to change their ways and focus on making a positive impact.

“As I stay in Hamburg, they build giant church auditoriums through contributions from church members and other pastors. We need to wise up; they have cheated us for so long, and this has discouraged a lot of people. I am not accusing all pastors because some are good.

“If you go to the white man’s church, they are more concerned about the poor and vulnerable in society. But our pastors are thinking about how they can use luxurious cars. We are tired.”

Esther Smith is set to hold a musical event in Ghana after she has been absent from the music scene for a while.

Some selected Ghanaian gospel artists including ACP Kofi Sarpong, Minister OJ, Pastor Joe Beechem, and Lady Prempeh, will perform at the Kumasi edition of the gospel concert dubbed “Esther Smith Live In Concert” slated for Sunday, August 25, at the Church of Pentecost, Bantama..

Accra edition of the concert, the organizers disclosed, will also take place on August 30 at the Perez Dome.

The two concerts are being organized to celebrate Esther Smith’s brand and achievement in the gospel music industry.

It will bring together Christians, gospel music lovers, and gospel artists on one platform to celebrate Jesus Christ.

The two events will provide an avenue for music fans to meet and interact with their favorite gospel music stars and ministers of God.

It promises to be a grand celebration of music with top gospel stars joining Esther Smith on stage to thrill fans.
