The intersection of creativity and governance has become increasingly important in recent years. The need for innovative solutions has never been greater as societies’ challenges become more complex, ranging from climate change to social inequality.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey underscored the importance of more creatives assuming political positions in government.

The Deputy Minister said that having a lot of people in leadership positions helps in fighting for the collective good of the industry.

According to him, at least one of the ministers of the various institutions is usually one that comes from the industry that constitutes the ministry. He says because of this, it is prudent to have creatives with political interests around to occupy spaces that require their services.

With problem-solving skills, creatives are trained to think outside the box. They approach problems from various angles, often leading to innovative solutions that conventional thinkers might overlook.

In government, where bureaucratic processes stifle innovation, creative problem-solving leads to more effective policies and programs.

Creatives excel in understanding human emotions and experiences. This empathy is crucial in government, where policies must cater to diverse populations.

In an exclusive interview with the Vaultz News, Military personnel, field engineer, and philanthropist, PTE Richards David added his voice to Deputy Minister Mark Okraku-Mantey’s call for more creatives to go into government.

According to him, Mark Okraku-Mantey’s call is a very good one, adding that he agrees with him [Mark].

“Great ideas that he has been bringing up lately. Concerning us holding more political positions or having more political stands in the country, to have a very close look into this, creativity is something that brings a lot or generates a lot in general, like revenue to the country.

“So I think we should emphasize more on that side. And, also, because we don’t have people in that sector, it has made it very complicated for us to even have a say when it comes to some things generally.”

The philanthropist further noted that should more creatives go into government, it can boost the economy and draw more attention to social issues, adding that creatives have the potential.

Storytelling is a powerful tool in shaping public perception and policy. Creatives use narrative techniques to highlight the human impact of legislation, making abstract policies more tangible.

Creatives often work across disciplines, collaborating with individuals from various fields. This ability to connect diverse perspectives facilitates innovative approaches to governance.

By bringing together artists, designers, technologists, and policymakers, creatives help cultivate a culture of collaboration that drives progress.

Addressing Social Issues Through Creative Solutions

Creatives bring fresh perspectives to social issues such as poverty, education, and healthcare. By developing innovative programs and initiatives, they address systemic inequalities and promote social justice. Their ability to envision alternative futures inspires transformative change.

As the world grapples with climate change, creatives contribute to environmental advocacy and policy development. Through art, design, and strategic communication, they raise awareness about sustainability issues and mobilize communities to take action.

Diversity in government is essential for effective representation. Creatives from various backgrounds bring unique perspectives and experiences that enrich the policymaking process. By advocating for inclusivity, they help ensure that marginalized voices are heard and considered.

Creatives often challenge societal norms and push boundaries. This willingness to question the status quo is vital in government, where entrenched practices hinder progress. By entering public service, creatives advocate for change and inspire others to think differently about governance.

The need for creativity in government has never been more pressing. As societies face unprecedented challenges, the infusion of creative thinking into public service leads to innovative solutions that benefit all citizens.

Those in creative fields, whether artists, designers, writers, or performers, should consider leaping government. Their unique talents make a significant impact, shaping policies and programs that resonate with the public and foster a more equitable and sustainable future.

The call for creativity in governance is not just an invitation; it is a necessity for a thriving democracy.
