Shatta Wale Chides Stonebwoy Over ‘Money Throwing’ Comment

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy

Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, has once again fiercely criticized his ‘nemesis,’ Stonebwoy, after the latter bemoaned the trend of artists throwing money at fans.

Earlier, while explaining why he refrains from throwing money at his fans when he hits the streets, Stonebwoy said he believes the practice can lead to injuries when fans scramble for cash.

Stonebwoy termed the act as disrespectful, emphasizing that he values his fans too much to engage in actions that could cause them harm or discomfort.

This comment, however, has caught the attention of Shatta Wale, who is known for throwing money at his fans on the streets and at events. Whether he meets them in town or performs at shows, he often pulls out wads of cash and generously sprays it on the crowd.

Shatta Wale, who feels Stonebwoy’s comments were directed at him, has expressed fury, asking the BHIM Nation boss to stay out of his business.

He stated that it is a standard practice in the Shatta Movement.

“Someone decided to support his fans by throwing money at them and you have a problem with it. Allow us to hurt ourselves. In the Shatta Movement, we like to hurt ourselves. Have we complained to someone? Has any of my fans complained? That’s why I always say if I’m throwing money and you’re not a Shatta Movement fan, don’t come there.

“Anytime an artiste wants to copy some of my acts, they do it and throw shades in the process. Telling people it’s disrespectful to throw money about. They like most of the things I do, but they can’t do it because of hypocrisy. Don’t go about throwing money, it’s not your thing.”

Shatta Wale

According to Shatta Wale, before throwing money at his fans, he blesses them.

“There’s a reason I pray on my money, before throwing it to the fans. I do that so blessings will follow them. It’s not about how small the money is. It’s the blessings it comes with,” he added.

Shatta Wale further issued a stern warning to those who come at him for spraying cash on his fans.

“You see how hard they want to fight me for throwing money at my fans and rubbish it in our faces? When I go live p3, they go talk say man no deh respect? Do you think I will throw money if the system works well? Do you even understand the current economic situation at all in Ghana?

“Let any old foolish man come and tell me people will get hurt whilst they are rather the ones stealing the country’s money and hurting the people… You people go do saaaaa then ago spark 🔥. SOME FOOLISH CITIZENS!!! #SMH.”

While some fans and observers applaud him for his generosity, others have criticized his actions as being callous and merely a way to flaunt his wealth.

Artist Criticizes Government’s Decision to Levy Bet Winnings

Popular Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has expressed deep concern about the taxes imposed on betting winnings.

The musician criticized the government’s decision to levy a 10% withholding tax on all betting, games, and lottery wins, a policy introduced in 2023.

The ‘On God’ hitmaker argued that betting has become a backup and vital source of income for many young Ghanaians these days since there’s no physical work for them to do.

The musician lamented that the government’s decision to tax these earnings was not only unfair but also a move that jeopardized the future prospects of young people who rely on this income.

The withholding tax policy has been met with dissatisfaction among the youth since its inception.

Shatta Wale’s sentiments sparked reactions from many young Ghanaians who felt that the tax on betting winnings was another way of keeping them from achieving financial independence.

Shatta Wale sets tongues wagging with his concerns.

“He Dey stake paaa oooo wey De bet too de play dat be why he Dey complain I barb amQwakuSakyi.”
