MTN Ghana Deepens Regional Connections Through Stakeholder Engagements

MTN Ghana continues to strengthen its ties with various stakeholders across the country, with a recent focus on the Northern region.

Through a series of events, the telecom giant has been engaging with local communities, government officials, businesses, and educational institutions to share updates on its digital solutions, solicit feedback, and reinforce its commitment to driving socio-economic development in Ghana.

MTN Ghana’s outreach efforts included a significant meeting with the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu. During this visit, MTN updated the Minister on the company’s operations in the region, highlighting its contributions to the local economy and infrastructure. The discussions underscored MTN’s ongoing efforts to expand its digital footprint in the Northern Region, ensuring that even the most remote communities are connected and able to benefit from modern telecommunications.

Hon. Shaibu expressed his appreciation for MTN’s initiatives in the region, particularly in terms of job creation, digital education, and network improvement. He also encouraged MTN to continue collaborating with local authorities to address specific regional challenges and enhance service delivery.

Engaging with Media and Stakeholders

As part of the stakeholder engagements, MTN hosted a forum attended by media representatives and other key partners in the Northern Region. Nii Adotey Mingle, General Manager for MTN Regional Sales for Northern Ghana, led the discussions, where he provided insights into MTN’s recent innovations and updates. He highlighted how MTN’s digital solutions are designed to enhance customer experience, improve network reliability, and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region.

During the forum, media and industry partners shared their experiences with MTN’s services, offering valuable feedback. They acknowledged areas where MTN has excelled, such as network expansion and customer service, while also suggesting areas where further improvements could be made. This open dialogue demonstrated MTN’s commitment to listening to its stakeholders and making necessary adjustments to better serve the community.

MTN Ghana’s commitment to community engagement was also evident in its outreach to the Tolon District. Here, MTN representatives engaged with local stakeholders to educate them on various aspects of digital technology, including the dangers of MoMo (Mobile Money) fraud and how to protect themselves against it. The sessions also highlighted how technology can be leveraged to improve livelihoods, whether through better access to information or the use of digital tools for business purposes.

Additionally, MTN shared updates on its nationwide network modernization project, which is aimed at enhancing service delivery across the country. The project includes upgrading infrastructure to improve network quality and coverage, ensuring that even rural areas like Tolon benefit from reliable and fast internet connectivity.

Promoting Safe Internet Usage and Cybersecurity

Recognizing the importance of cybersecurity, especially among the youth, MTN Ghana extended its educational efforts to schools in the region. At the Lamashegu Secondary Technical School in Tamale and the Bolga Girls Secondary School, MTN conducted sessions focused on safe internet usage and the importance of cybersecurity in the digital age.

These engagements aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the internet safely and responsibly, an increasingly important issue as more young people gain access to digital platforms.

In collaboration with the Martha Inspires Foundation, MTN Ghana hosted a youth empowerment summit that brought together nearly 3,000 students. The summit was an opportunity to inspire and educate the youth on various topics, including career development, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship. Through this initiative, MTN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth development and helping to build the next generation of leaders in Ghana.

MTN’s regional outreach extended to the Upper East region, where the company held one-on-one meetings with selected media stakeholders. These meetings were designed to gather feedback on MTN’s services and explore ways to enhance business operations in the region.

The engagement also included radio interviews to educate the public on issues such as MoMo fraud and customer service improvements, further cementing MTN’s role as a responsible corporate citizen.
