NPP Youth Sounds Alarm On Mahama’s Comeback

Salam Mustapha

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Youth Wing has warned that a possible return to power of John Mahama and his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, would be catastrophic for Ghana.

According to NPP National Youth Organizer Salam Mustapha, john Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyeman’s past policies, enacted during their time in office, had a negative impact on young people.

Mustapha singled out the scrapping of the teacher trainee allowance during Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s tenure as a prime example of their misguided leadership.

He further noted that Mahama’s consecutive losses in 2016 and the subsequent 2020 elections were a resounding testament to the Ghanaian people’s disapproval of his leadership style.

“Ask yourselves, from Kwame Nkrumah to Akufo-Addo, how come John Dramani Mahama was the only leader in our nation’s history who was rejected by Ghanaian voters when he went for re-election? Indeed, ask yourself how come he has been rejected twice since Ghanaians tasted him both as a vice president and as president?”

Salam Mustapha

Mustapha noted that John Mahama inherited a thriving oil-rich economy with no global crises to contend with, yet he still managed to create his own economic challenges.

He pointed out that during the former President’s tenure, the situation became so dire that even basic educational resources, such as chalk, were scarce in schools, leaving the country in a state of hopelessness.

The NPP stalwart further asserted that John Mahama, the former President himself, demonstrated a striking lack of direction and competence, exemplifying a leadership that was utterly rudderless and inept.

He also reminded Ghanaians of John Mahama’s disastrous presidency, marked by widespread hardship and economic struggle.

Mustapha stated that during John Mahama’s tenure, many parents lost their jobs or customers due to the crippling power outages, known as “dumsor”, which plagued the nation.

Furthermore, Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, also launched a scathing attack on the NDC’s running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, criticizing her suitability for the role.

Mustapha stressed that John Mahama’s incompetence in office was not an isolated issue, as his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, also demonstrated equal ineptitude.

He noted that as the former Minister of Education, Prof. Opoku-Agyeman’s tenure was marked by unimpressive performance, further solidifying the duo’s reputation for underwhelming leadership.

“Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was equally if not more inept…Madam Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang supervised the monstrous heart-breaking 3-month pay policy, where teachers worked for 3 years and only got paid 3 months. This was how mean she was”.

Salam Mustapha

Mustapha highlighted Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s questionable leadership as Education Minister, citing her oversight of the teacher training allowance cancellation and the burdensome policy forcing universities to self-fund their utility bills.

Furthermore, he noted that under her watch, basic schools lacked even basic resources, a stark testament to her administrative shortcomings.

Mustapha therefore warned Ghanaian youth against voting for Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, citing their past failures as a clear indication of their inability to deliver effective leadership and improve the lives of young people.

The NPP stalwart warned that a Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang duo would spell disaster for Ghana, threatening to derail the country’s progress and hinder its ability to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

He emphasized that, at a time when the country should be equipping its youth to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this leadership team would instead plunge them into uncertainty and gloom.

The NPP is calling on voters in traditionally NDC-held constituencies and regions to break with their past voting habits and support the NPP in the upcoming elections.

The NPP stated that by doing so, they can help secure a crucial NPP victory, paving the way for continued development and progress in Ghana.
