Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI Africa

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has praised citizens for taking action against illegal mining, acknowledging the crucial role they play in combating this issue.

Franklin Cudjoe noted that citizen action has proven industrious in combating illegal mining, despite the inaction of those in power, including government officials, defense, national security, and military personnel.

He pointed out that these individuals, whom the public supports and expects to protect the nation’s interests, have instead chosen to turn a blind eye, effectively condoning the destructive practice.

“Yes, l understand the reason is that the illegal blood gold had been the fuel behind the wobbly stability of the Ghanaian currency, the cedi, as the Bank of Ghana bought and still buys the tainted gold in order to build significant dollar reserves to moderate the otherwise unhinged cedi else we would have been heading to 25 cedis to the dollar”.

Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe criticized the practice of moderating the cedi by buying gold, calling it “clever banditry” or “ecological-economic suicide” that prioritizes short-term economic gains over long-term environmental sustainability.

He emphasized that while this approach may appear intelligent to some, it poses a significant threat to Ghana’s ecological future, ultimately prioritizing short-term gains over long-term sustainability.

Franklin Cudjoe sounded the alarm on Ghana’s ecological crisis, emphasizing that if left unchecked, environmental degradation will inevitably harm the entire population, compromising the nation’s future.

He highlighted that exposure to pollutants will come through contaminated food products, tainted water sources, and hazardous environments, leading to severe health consequences, including increased cancer risk, respiratory diseases, and other long-term ailments.

Franklin Cudjoe voiced grave concerns about the welfare of citizens fighting against galamsey, emphasizing the urgent need to protect those who dare to challenge this illicit activity.

He highlighted a dire possibility that had the courageous youth confronting galamsey been killed by illegal miners, the aftermath would have been devastating.

Cudjoe Calls for Balance Of Ecology And Economy In Ghana’s Development

Franklin Cudjoe emphasized the need for a balanced approach to development, where ecological and economic interests are harmonized.

He lamented the loss of common sense in decision-making, where environmental protection is often sacrificed for economic gains.

“Can’t the state ensure responsible mining that cleans up after the extraction of the ores? How difficult is this compared to the jocular solution of providing state-sponsored illegal miners’ national identification cards? Really?”

Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe expressed deep concerns about galamsey issues and the Electoral Register debacle, highlighting the alarming moronic posture of those in power.

Franklin Cudjoe wondered if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) genuinely believes that none of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) major errors, acknowledged by the Electoral Commission (EC), serve their interests.

Specifically, he queried whether the NPP thinks these errors are insignificant or unworthy of attention.

“[All these] make me conclude that ‘ I love my country. It is the government l am afraid of. Very afraid”. – Franklin Cudjoe

He therefore cautioned that all citizens should share his concern and be vigilant, as the government’s actions have consequences for everyone, adding that “You should be [afraid] too”

Franklin Cudjoe emphasized that those with close ties to the government and its leaders must alert them to the pressing issues facing the nation.

He pointed out that if political leaders fail to act, the future of innocent children and unborn generations will remain uncertain, and no meaningful change will occur.

Accordingly, Franklin Cudjoe called on Ghanaians to critically reflect on the country’s uncertain future and demand accountability from its leaders.

Franklin Cudjoe lamented the poor state of governance in Ghana, criticizing the leadership’s failure to effectively manage the nation.

He passionately appealed to leaders to prioritize visionary leadership and responsible stewardship, securing a brighter future for generations to come.
