The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has issued a strong statement condemning recent acts of violence and vandalism in the country.

The remarks came following the arrest of several individuals by the Ghana Police Service for their involvement in acts of destruction, unlawful assembly, and assault during a demonstration organized under the banner of “Democracy Hub.”

“We firmly believe that individuals who take the law into their own hands and commit such criminal acts under the guise of a demonstration must be held accountable and face the full rigours of the law in our courts.

“Law and order are fundamental to the peace and security of our nation, and those who violate these principles should not be exempt from justice.”

Salam Mustapha, National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

Mustapha’s statement made it clear that the NPP Youth Wing fully supports the efforts of the Ghana Police Service in apprehending the individuals involved in these criminal acts.

He emphasized that law enforcement agencies should pursue the prosecution of those responsible for the chaos, stressing that accountability is essential to maintaining national peace and security.

Mustapha urged all peace-loving and law-abiding citizens of Ghana to support the police and their efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“It is crucial that we collectively uphold the rule of law and condemn such unruly behaviour, as it threatens the very foundation of our democracy,” Mustapha added.

The demonstration, which quickly spiraled into chaos, involved protesters engaging in the destruction of public and private property, sparking widespread outrage across the nation.

In his press release, Mustapha expressed the NPP Youth Wing’s firm stance on the need for law and order to prevail, highlighting that the actions of these “miscreants and hooligans” should not go unpunished.

Mustapha also highlighted the growing frustration and anger among many Ghanaians who witnessed the acts of violence unfold during the protest.

According to him, there is an urgent demand from the public for the authorities to deliver justice and ensure that the perpetrators face the full extent of the law.

Condemnation of Violence and Unlawful Actions

Mustapha was unequivocal in his condemnation of the violence, vandalism, and assault that occurred during the event. He stressed that such unlawful actions should never be tolerated, regardless of the political, religious, or ethnic affiliations of those involved.

“While we recognize and support the rights of all citizens to engage in peaceful and lawful demonstrations as enshrined in our constitution, it is important to emphasize that acts of vandalism, destruction of property, and other unlawful actions must be unequivocally condemned.

“We cannot, and should not, fear any political or social repercussions for speaking out against such criminal acts.”

One of the most pressing points raised by the NPP Youth Wing was the potential for a culture of impunity to develop if swift and firm action is not taken.

Mustapha warned that failure to prosecute those involved in the recent violence could embolden others to engage in even more serious criminal activities in the future.

Salam Mustapha reiterated the need for all Ghanaians to come together to protect the nation’s peace and security. He emphasized that it is only by upholding the rule of law and holding wrongdoers accountable that the country can safeguard its democratic foundations.

The statement from the NPP Youth Wing reflects the growing concern over political demonstrations turning violent and sends a strong message about the need for accountability in preserving law and order in Ghana.
