John Mahama Visits North East Region, Assures and Promises Change

John Dramani Mahama Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)

During his day-2 campaign tour of the North East Region in the Bunkprugu-Yunyoo, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, expressed his optimism about the future of Ghana’s judiciary, emphasizing his belief that the courts will act with integrity and independence despite alleged attempts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to pack the judiciary in their favor.

John Mahama also shared his party’s vision for addressing economic challenges, corruption, and social issues, particularly those affecting women and the elderly.

John Mahama reassured Ghanaians of his faith in the judiciary’s independence. He addressed concerns regarding the current government’s attempt to fill the courts with loyalists to avoid accountability for alleged corruption. John Mahama, however, remained confident that justice would prevail under an NDC administration, despite these efforts.

John Mahama emphasized the NDC’s commitment to pursuing justice and holding accountable those who have engaged in corrupt practices. He promised that if elected, his government would vigorously investigate all corruption scandals.  He emphasized; “To those who have stolen the money of the people of Ghana, we are going to follow them and take that money back for the people.”

Breaking Eight Years of Economic Mismanagement

John Mahama did not shy away from criticizing the NPP’s economic performance over the past eight years, labeling their tenure as one of poverty, hardship, and mismanagement.

He assured Ghanaians that the NDC would reverse the negative trends and bring economic relief if voted into power.

Women’s Bank Initiative to Support 200,000 Businesses

One of the standout policies in Mahama’s campaign message was the creation of a women’s bank aimed at supporting female entrepreneurs.

The NDC plans to establish this institution to provide small loans to women to enhance their businesses.

Reducing Rejected Ballots in the December Elections

In addressing the upcoming December elections, John Mahama expressed concern about the high number of rejected ballots in previous elections.

He urged party officials and polling station executives to assist elderly voters, who often struggle with vision problems, to cast their votes correctly.

He emphasized that if you know any elderly people who find it difficult to vote, let them go with somebody to help them cast their vote to help them put their thump print at the right place.

He asked polling station executives to play an active role in identifying elderly voters who might require assistance on election day. He asserted; “We want to bring rejected ballots as low as possible.”

Support from the Bimoba Traditional Area

In a show of support, the Chief of the Bunkprugu-Yunyoo Bimoba Traditional Area, Ahaji Abuba Nursinmong offered his endorsement of John Mahama’s candidacy. The chief’s backing underscored the widespread support John Mahama has received during his campaign in the North East Region.

John Mahama’s campaign in the North East Region highlighted his confidence in Ghana’s judiciary and his firm belief in the potential for justice and accountability under an NDC administration.

His proposals, including the women’s bank initiative, free academic fees for first-year students, and increased police recruitment, reflect his commitment to addressing the key challenges facing Ghanaians.

With a focus on tackling corruption and ensuring a fair and just electoral process, Mahama’s message resonated with the people of the region, bolstering his prospects in the upcoming December elections.
