Veteran Ghanaian actress, Mercy Asiedu, has shared a light-hearted and intriguing story about how her husband, Nana Agyeman Badu Duah, was first drawn to her after watching her in a popular movie.

The actress revealed how her physical appearance, specifically her bosom, caught her husband’s attention long before they met in person.

Speaking fondly of how their love story began, Mercy Asiedu explained that her husband first saw her in the movie “Asore Ba”, which was a major breakthrough in her acting career. “He said to himself, ‘This woman has nice bosoms’ and promised to find me once he returned to Ghana,” she said amid laughter.

Fate worked its magic when she was on a movie shoot and ended up lodging at a hotel, where, by coincidence, her future husband was also staying.

She recounted how he approached her, got talking, and their love story instantly clicked.

“He told me that he had seen my movie and was impressed, not just with my acting but with my appearance. We exchanged contacts and kept in touch from there. The chemistry between us grew, and soon, we found ourselves in a romantic relationship that eventually led to marriage.”

Mercy Asiedu expressed that she would wholeheartedly support her children if they choose to pursue acting as a career.

According to her, the acting profession has significantly transformed her life, and she remains deeply grateful for the opportunities it has provided.

The Kumawood star shared that her children have already begun acting, and she sees no reason to discourage them. “As long as they are not engaging in anything illegal, like stealing, I will support them fully if they want to pursue acting as a career,” she said.

Mercy Asiedu emphasized the positive impact acting has had on her life, including the opportunity it gave her to study abroad.

“Acting has been life-changing for me, so why wouldn’t I encourage my children to follow that path? It’s something that has opened doors for me.”

She further revealed that she has established a production house and intends for her children to eventually take over the business. “If I don’t introduce them to the industry and I get older, who will take over? I want them to be prepared to continue what I’ve started,” the actress stated.

The Ghanaian actress also addressed claims that the Kumawood film industry has declined.

She asserted that the industry is far from dead, emphasizing that Kumawood’s current challenges stem from a lack of technological advancement.

According to her, there is still an abundance of talent, but the technology needed to distribute the films effectively isn’t available. “Kumawood is not dead. Actors and actresses are still available; producers are still available; it’s just that technology has changed,” Asiedu stated.

She highlighted the shift from physical CD sales to digital platforms, noting that producers used to recoup their investments quickly through CD sales, a model that is no longer viable.

“At first, producers could release films every Monday and get their money back within the week. But now, nobody is buying CDs anymore.”

Mercy Asiedu attributed the situation to industry players who were slow to adapt to technological advancements, stating that this delay is a major reason for the industry’s struggles. “Those responsible for the film industry in the country weren’t quick enough to adapt to changing technology, which is why we are where we are,” she explained.

However, she maintained that the Kumawood industry is not dead; we just need to update our technology.
