President John Mahama's 120-day assessment.

President John Dramani Mahama

According to a new national telephone tracking poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, John Dramani Mahama continues to hold a strong lead in the race, suggesting a likely one-touch victory in the upcoming general elections.

The results reflect Mahama’s sustained popularity and may indicate that he is well-positioned to secure the necessary majority without the need for a runoff.

The poll showed Mahama leading with 53.1% of the vote, significantly ahead of his closest competitor, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who stands at 39.0%.

Nana Kwame Bediako emerged as a distant third with 5.2%, while Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen followed in fourth place, securing only 1.7% of the vote.

The remaining 1% of voters are distributed among other minor candidates who, despite participating in the race, have not managed to gain significant traction or support from the electorate.

“Among first-time voters, JDM [John Dramani Mahama] is consolidating his lead as the poll shows he leads DMB [Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia] 54.7% to 31.3%. Nana Kwame Bediako, 12.5% and others 1.5%.

“However, among non-first-time voters, the race is much tighter as John Mahama leads with 53.1%, Dr. Bawumia, at 39.4%, Nana Bediako, at 4.7%, Alan Kyeremanten, 1.7%, and others with 1.1%”.

The poll further revealed that 9% of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters intend to vote for John Dramani Mahama, indicating a small but notable crossover of support from the ruling party.

Meanwhile, a significant majority of NPP voters, 87%, remain committed to their candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Additionally, 1% of NPP voters indicate they will vote for Alan Kyerematen, and 3% favor Nana Kwame Bediako, highlighting some fragmentation within the NPP base.

On the National Democratic Congress (NDC) side, party loyalty appears even stronger, with 97% of its voters pledging their support to Mahama.

Only a small minority of NDC voters express support for other candidates, with 1% each intending to vote for Dr. Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen, and Nana Kwame Bediako.

This shows that, despite some minor defections, Mahama maintains overwhelming backing within his party, while support for opposition candidates remains minimal among NDC members.

Mahama Leads Among Floating Voters with 63%

Furthermore, the Global InfoAnalytics poll indicated that among floating voters, John Dramani Mahama leads with 63%, demonstrating his strong appeal beyond his party’s base.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia follows with 21%, while Nana Kwame Bediako garners 14%. Alan Kyerematen receives 1%, and other candidates collectively account for the remaining 1%.

The polls also showed that among voters who do not disclose their party affiliations, Mahama leads with 56% of the vote.

Dr. Bawumia captures 27%, showing some traction among these undecided or neutral voters.

Alan Kyerematen receives 5%, while Nana Kwame Bediako has the support of 10%. The remaining 2% of voters express support for other minor candidates.

This data suggests that Mahama not only dominates his party’s base but also has a substantial advantage among unaligned and independent voters.

“The poll shows that 27% of voters who voted for Nana Addo in the 2020 election have abandoned the ruling party and now intend to vote for John Mahama, 67% will vote for Dr. Bawumia, 2% for Alan Kyerematen, and 4% for Nana Bediako.

“On the other hand, 97% of voters who voted for John Mahama intend to vote for him again while 2% will vote for Dr. Bawumia and 1% will vote for Nana Bediako”.

Global InfoAnalytics

The polls indicated that 55% of voters feel their economic situation has worsened compared to a year ago, while 28% believe it has improved, and 18% say it has remained unchanged.

Regarding the country’s direction, 63% of voters think Ghana is on the wrong track, whereas 24% believe the country is moving in the right direction, and 10% have no opinion.

The poll results showed that 30% of voters approve of the president’s job performance, while a significant 62% disapprove, and 8% remain undecided.

Regarding the overall performance of the government, 51% of voters rate it as poor or very poor, while 30% view it as good or very good.

According to the poll, only 4% consider the government’s performance as excellent, and 15% rate it as neutral. “Economy, jobs, and education continue to dominate voters’ priorities for the December election”.
