The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 General elections, former President John Dramani Mahama is set to convene a Governance Forum tonight, Thursday, October 31st.
Scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm, the event will centre on the theme, “Resetting Ghana for Good Governance and Accountability”. Speaking through his spokesperson, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Esq., the National Democratic Congress flagbearer expressed deep concerns about what he perceives as a rise in societal injustices and economic hardship affecting millions of Ghanaians.
According to Lawyer Mogtari, former President Mahama views these challenges as evidence of a governance structure in need of urgent reform and greater accountability.
“Mahama believes the governance of our dear country Ghana is at a crossroads with injustice eating our society away as our economy inflicts untold hardships on the millions of suffering Ghanaians.”
Joyce Bawah Mogtari Esq, Spokesperson for Mahama Campaign
This forum, Joyce Bawah Mogtari posited, is an opportunity for the former President and the NDC Flagbearer to further outline his initiatives, with a particular focus on strengthening political accountability, curbing corruption, and reinforcing respect for human rights across all levels of government.
Accountability: Governance Advisory Council.
During tonight’s forum, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, who also doubles as the Special Aide to the former President noted that Mr Mahama is expected to outline his plan for establishing a Governance Advisory Council, a proposed body aimed at providing oversight to improve the quality of political governance in Ghana.
According to Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the council would play a critical role in advising on governance reforms, supporting anti-corruption initiatives, and ensuring respect for human rights and the rule of law.
In recent times, the National Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate has highlighted that this council would not only serve as a watchdog over public administration but would also offer strategic advice on how Ghana can improve transparency and accountability, to restore citizens’ confidence in the political system.

Accessible to All: Multi-Platform Broadcasting.
The Governance Forum according to the Spokesperson for the Mahama 2024 Campaign will be broadcast live across television, radio, and online platforms, including all of Mahama’s social media channels, ensuring that Ghanaians nationwide can tune in.
This multi-platform approach, she noted underscores former President Mahama’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency, offering voters a direct line to his ideas and policies.
By engaging with the public through accessible media, the National Democratic Congress 2024 Presidential Candidate is reinforcing his commitment to making governance a participatory process.
A Track Record of Stakeholder Engagement.
This Governance Forum is not former President Mahama’s first effort at engaging the Ghanaian public on the need for comprehensive reforms.
In recent times, the former president has held dialogues with major stakeholders in the energy and petroleum sectors, aiming to address structural issues within these vital industries.
He has also engaged in discussions with prominent members of the media, the clergy and leaders within the business community to share and refine his strategies for economic transformation and governance reform, should he be elected in the upcoming December elections.
Through these forums, former President Mahama has actively sought to foster a collaborative approach to national development, emphasizing the importance of input from a broad spectrum of Ghanaian society.
With less than six weeks to the general elections, according to Joyce Bawah Mogtari’s statement represents a strategic moment for the National Democratic Congress flagbearer to consolidate support around his governance agenda and showcase his plans to “reset” Ghana on a course toward greater accountability, justice, and economic recovery.
Tonight’s Governance Forum, without doubt, promises to be a significant event for several Ghanaians considering their choice in the upcoming elections, providing an in-depth look at Mahama’s proposals to enhance accountability and promote responsible governance in Ghana.”
