Ghanaian broadcaster, Kofi Okyere-Darko, popularly known as KOD, has hinted at producing and releasing a music album before he turns 50 years old.

He noted that music has always been his interest, and he has helped to birth talents who are excelling in the industry.

“I bring the music out of other people. It’s in my head, but they can’t come out of me. So, I bring it out of other people, and I’ve had a great time over the years in the music space; it’s one of the greatest times for me, and we’re looking at getting back there. I got a call from Nana Kwame asking that we do one last album together.”

KOD

However, he has not been able to create his own music because he claims his voice is not the best for singing

Amidst his situation, music producer Kwame Yeboah requested that KOD produce an album before turning 50, which they are currently working on.

“Kwame Yeboah actually told me that I have till age 50 to record my album; otherwise, I’m done, and he’s the one producing the album. I’m 46 now, so I have 4 years to go.”

KOD

Asked if he would be able to fulfill it, he said, “Definitely,” adding that “it’s going to be an eclectic album.”

KOD revealed that the album will capture all genres of music in Ghana, including highlife and gospel.

He explained that he developed a strategy of creating all genres of songs with all the musicians he has worked with, which has landed them many award nominations.

The broadcaster noted that every musician who aims to break through and reach greater heights should explore other genres instead of limiting themselves to just one

“We always recorded different genres. We didn’t box ourselves into maybe highlife, and I think for every musician, if you’re truly talented and you can really go places like a Samini, King Promise, or Sarkodie, you don’t stay in one spot; you explore different arenas, and they keep you going.”

The Media personality and Creative Director for Nineteen57 revealed the age at which he was certain about his life ambitions.

According to him, choosing to pursue a career in media was a decision he made at a tender age, and he followed through on it and succeeded.

He shared how he has managed to stay relevant throughout his career.

“At a very tender age, I decided to take this path. By age 7, I knew everything I wanted to do in this life, and I’ve been staying on course.”

Although he needed to adapt and adjust to new developments due to technological advancements, he never relented on his foundational dreams and persisted in achieving them.

This makes him believe that consistency and endurance are the best techniques for success, regardless of the profession an individual chooses to pursue.

As to what inspired him to venture into media, the broadcaster said his dad’s friend owned a show for children.

“My dad had a friend at GBC called Emilia Alabama and she had a show for children. So, I went to visit her one day and saw the technicalities of TV and everything that was happening there and I was like wow! I would want to do this when I grow up and besides that, I was always putting my mother’s buckets together and drumming at home.”

KOD

KOD has been in Ghana’s media space for over three decades. He has worked with different media houses and is currently the creative director of Nineteen57 and the founder of the annual fashion and music event, Rhythms on Da Runway.

By age 18, he became a full-time radio presenter and added television presenting at age 19.

The media mogul has won coveted awards, including the Most Stylish Radio Personality of the Year at the Glitz Style and Most Fashionable Man of the Year at the Exclusive Men of the Year Awards, amongst others.

All of Kofi Okyere-Darko’s achievements are built from the decision he made at age 7, meaning everything is possible with a strong foundation.
