Ghanaian dancehall star, Livingstone Este Satekla, widely known as Stonebwoy, has shared the inspiration behind his ‘Jiggle and Whine’ song.
According to him, the song which features Jamaican dancehall, Queen Spice, was made to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Ever since the song was released, it has resonated with a lot of young female music fans, who didn’t shy away from partaking in social media dance challenges with it.
“It’s for breast cancer awareness because it was released in October. The social media challenge is an exercise for women who haven’t stretched their back in a long time.”

When asked about what he aims to achieve with the song’s dance challenge on social media, he said, “It has made most of our women very happy.”
“I’ve seen some of the sisters get their confidence on. It’s for edutainment and it’s so beautiful.”

Stonebwoy raved about his collaboration with the Jamaican dancehall Queen.
He acknowledged that the song’s challenge, which had netizens shaking their bodies, came organically from fans.
‘Jiggle and Whine’ is taken from Stonebwoy’s UP&RUNNIN6 album which was released on October 24, 2024. The song has gained significant traction online thanks to its infectious challenge.
The song’s soundbite on TikTok has registered close to 30k entries in about a month since Stonebwoy’s album dropped.
The dancehall artist sarcastically established that the ‘Jiggle and Whine’ challenge helped its participants exercise.
He also established that he had wrapped up shooting for the ‘Jiggle and Whine’ music video.
Stonebwoy invited his Jamaican collaborator Spice to Ghana for the music video shoot. The dancehall duo visited several parts of Accra and engaged with some fans to shoot some of its scenes.
The ‘Jiggle and Whine’ hitmaker confirmed that the highly anticipated music video would be released after Ghana’s elections on December 7.
Stonebwoy Reveals Factors to Perform at NDC Campaign Rally
Ahead of the 2024 general elections slated for December 7, 2024, dancehall musician, Stonebwoy revealed that he has been contacted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to perform at their campaign rally.
He opened up about the factors that will influence his decision to accept such a gig.
According to him, he will decide on the possibility of the performance after reaching an agreement on the fee.
“There are a few that I’m considering. I think there’s one call from the NDC now. To be clear, I haven’t spoken to any NDC person though there has been a call from them. We’re checking on the money level and if it goes well, I’ll perform to my fans so I can use some of the money for the BHIM festival.”

He advocated for peace during and after the general elections.
“December is coming, so peaceful elections is all we seek. When you see me on any platform, I’m performing for peace, whether NPP, NDC, CPP, it’s for peace because we are all one Ghana, Ghana first, Ghana must win in the end.”

Stonebwoy also addressed the ongoing “industry boy” debate surrounding him, which has sparked varied reactions from various industry stakeholders, including his colleague, Shatta Wale.
The controversy surrounding the “industry boy” was recently reignited following Sally Mann’s disclosure that certain players within the creative arts industry, including the media, have conspired to promote Stonebwoy’s career over that of other artists.
“I’m not an industry boy in the sense that an industry sat down to craft me, No. The industry is responsible for the growth and well-being of our creative arts, from the radio stations to the TV stations, all the traditional and modern media.”

He addressed such comments made by Shatta Wale, urging fans to look at the bigger picture.
Stonbwoy emphasized that while he doesn’t identify with the industry boy tag, he has chosen to move past the conversation, acknowledging that it has gained traction over time.
Despite the controversy, Stonebwoy has made it clear that he has a deep love for the music industry and its people. “I love that it’s my industry and I can’t create hate for myself within the industry,” he affirmed.
