Ellembelle MP Celebrates Mahama, Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s Historic Inauguration

Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Deputy Majority Leader has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on his inauguration as the sixth president of Ghana’s Fourth Republic. 

The National Democratic Congress MP, in his statement, touted the assumption of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana’s first-ever female Vice President, noting it as a groundbreaking achievement that signifies a monumental stride in the country’s pursuit of gender equality and inclusivity.

“This milestone marks a significant achievement in our nation’s journey towards bridging gender parity, diversity, and inclusivity”, he remarked. He described the inauguration as both “refreshing and inspiring,” emphasizing its symbolic importance in bridging gender disparities and fostering a more diverse and inclusive governance framework.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah highlighted the resonant themes of President Mahama’s inaugural speech, which centred on a renewed commitment to restoring Ghana’s prosperity, stability, and adherence to principles of good governance. 

He pointed out that President Mahama’s address, delivered with characteristic eloquence, underscored the urgency of addressing the country’s pressing challenges while laying a firm foundation for a sustainable future.  “This milestone is not only a testament to the resilience of our democratic institutions but also a clarion call to collectively work towards the ideals of equity and progress,” Hon. Kofi Buah remarked.

He shifted the spotlight on Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s ascendancy to the vice presidency, which has been particularly profound, noting that her historic feat is a major leap in championing women’s leadership roles in Ghana’s political and societal spheres.

Hon. Kofi Buah expressed optimism that this achievement would inspire generations of women to aspire to greater heights in leadership and governance. 

“This is a significant step in our journey toward gender parity,” he noted, adding that Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement embodies the progressive vision Ghana seeks to uphold.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah reiterated his confidence in their leadership. He described the occasion as a call for collective action to rally behind the administration’s vision for national renewal and development. 

“Once again, congratulations to both H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on this remarkable occasion. It is a moment for all Ghanaians to unite and support their leadership in building a better Ghana for all”.
