The former Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency and Co-Spokesperson of the NDC Manifesto Committee on Energy, Hon. Edward Abambire Bawa has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

This appointment, effective January 17, 2025, was made by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, in line with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.CL64).

A letter signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, confirmed the appointment, stating that it is pending “receipt of the required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission”.

This role saw him spearheading strategic communication initiatives to enhance capacity and transparency in Ghana’s oil and gas sector.
