Bole-Bamboi MP Condemns Misconduct of NDC Youth in Bole

Hon. Yusif Sulemana, MP for Bole-Bamboi

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole-Bamboi, Hon. Yusif Sulemana, has strongly condemned the recent actions of some NDC youth in the constituency protesting, destroying, and burning public properties against President John Dramani Mahama’s decision of not appointing Hon. Sulemena to a ministerial position.

 Hon. Sulemana emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum, respecting the president’s decisions, and prioritizing the collective interest of the nation over individual grievances. He lamented;

“It was a shame that they went to that angle. My appeal is that they should stop misconducting themselves and give respect to our brother and our traditional rulers over there. We have no moral right whatsoever to involve ourselves in that act.”

The MP stressed that President John Dramani Mahama, being a native of Bole and a former vice president who returned to power as president, deserves unwavering support and respect from the constituency.

Hon. Sulemana reassured the youth of his continued commitment to their welfare, irrespective of his ministerial status. He emphasized;

“Where I am today, very close to the president, we don’t need me as a minister to be able to solve their problems. Even when I was not an MP, the president gave me opportunities. Many of them who were qualified got jobs. Now that I am an MP and closer to him, they shouldn’t worry.”

He urged the youth to focus on the collective progress of the constituency and trust in the president’s ability to deliver development. Upon learning about the actions of the youth, Hon. Sulemana took swift action to address the situation. He recounted;

“Quickly, I called the constituency chairman, the police, and two of my elder brothers to ensure that they stop the guys from misbehaving. I also issued a statement condemning the act and went on radio to appeal to them.”

He further revealed that he spent the entire night engaging with community members to ensure calm was restored and emphasized that the embarrassment and disgrace caused by the actions of a few should not recur.

Moreover, Hon. Sulemana stated that he had apologized to President Mahama for the incident. He revealed;

“I narrated to him what happened and apologized because they did that in my name even though I was not aware of it. As a well-trained brother of his, I thought I should apologize to him. He acknowledged my apology.”

The MP assured that there was no animosity between him and the president and pledged his unflinching support for the government. He added;

“Let us allow him some peace. Let us allow him some space to establish his government and deliver. Ghanaians have been very nice to us for bringing him back to serve Ghana. My appeal to the youth is that we cannot afford to disappoint Ghanaians. Let us not be self-centered; let’s look at the generality of the people’s interest.”

He reiterated that the success of the Mahama administration is tied to the collective effort and support of all party members. He reiterated;

“So far, the minister of energy, a very strategic ministry, and we have our regional minister. I think our people should give our brother space to establish his government and deliver.”

Misconceptions About Ministerial Position

He assured them that his current position as MP and his proximity to the president are sufficient to advocate for their needs.

“They think that if I don’t get a position, they won’t get the opportunity to be recruited into the forces or get jobs. But I have told them that once the president is alive and I’m around him, their concerns will be met. They have no cause to complain.”

“We need to give the president and his appointees maximum cooperation so that they will deliver. Once they deliver, I can assure you, 2028 will be a win with ease.”

Hon. Yusif Sulemana, MP for Bole-Bamboi

Hon. Yusif Sulemana’s condemnation of the youth’s misconduct and his proactive efforts to restore calm reflect his dedication to the principles of respect, unity, and progress.

 His appeal for patience and support underscores the need for collective responsibility in advancing the development agenda of both the Bole constituency and Ghana as a whole.
