Transparent and Consultative Selection Process
The NDC emphasized that the selection process adhered to established legal frameworks and parliamentary traditions.
According to the statement, the appointments were the result of thorough deliberations aimed at ensuring effective representation and leadership in Parliament. This consultative approach underscores the party’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity within its ranks.
The party further noted that it has officially communicated these appointments to the Speaker of Parliament, requesting the necessary steps to formalize them in accordance with parliamentary conventions.

This procedural move reflects the NDC’s dedication to maintaining institutional respect and ensuring a smooth transition.
In its press release, the NDC reiterated its commitment to “upholding the principles of effective representation and leadership in Parliament.” The party expressed confidence in the ability of the new leadership team to advance its legislative priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes for the Ghanaian people.
The announcement marks a significant step in the NDC’s efforts to consolidate its parliamentary majority and position itself as the ruling government. With a blend of experience, expertise, and diversity, the new leadership team embodies the party’s vision of inclusive and results-oriented governance.
The leadership team faces the dual challenge of advancing the party’s policy objectives while navigating the complexities of parliamentary politics. The Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, is particularly poised to play a pivotal role in steering parliamentary debates and building consensus across the political divide.
In an earlier statement before the party’s official announcement, Hon. Mahama Ayariga expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC leadership chaired by Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and his colleagues in Parliament for the confidence reposed in him.
His experience and leadership acumen will be instrumental in shaping the legislative direction of the 9th Parliament.
