Team Lead for ImageBureau, George Quaye, has expressed disappointment in John Dumelo for not responding to a comment made by the Member of Parliament for the Tolon constituency, Habib Iddrisu during his vetting.
At the vetting held on February 25, 2025, Habib Iddrisu advised John Dumelo, the Deputy Minister Designate for Food and Agriculture, not to treat his new job as the movie industry. “You are not in your movie industry, try to be as serious as you can,” he said.
This statement has not gone down well with most creative arts people who believe it is condescending to their trade and craft.
One such person is the Team Lead for ImageBureau, George Quaye, who has lashed out at the Member of Parliament for his comment.
George Quaye also noted that actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, who appeared before the Appointments Committee in Parliament, should have schooled Habib for his remark. “I was quite a bit disappointed in my brother John Dumelo for not calling it out right there,” he noted.
George Quaye felt that John Dumelo should have defended the creative sector, which made him a household name before his foray into agriculture.
“If it were me, George Quaye, I would have seized it as a perfect opportunity to make a statement for the sector that made me. The sector made me, and I would defend it.”

George Quaye also acknowledged the presence of smart brains in the parliamentary chamber, including A Plus, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and Hon. Sam George, who have been supportive of the creative sector.
Don D Chides Habib Iddrisu Over Comments

Reacting to these tagged unfortunate comments from Habib Iddrisu, Efo Kofi, popularly known as Don D took a deep swipe at the NPP bigwig.
In a Facebook post, The Music Awards Boss and a Ho Central Constituency parliamentary hopeful chided and berated Habib Iddirus for his unsavory comments.
As fumed by Don D who hails from Ho, but currently resides in the United States of America, it was below the belt for an honorable member of the 9th Parliament to make such a reckless comment.
Don D who’s a Cypher Security Analyst and A Social Worker / Social Entrepreneur didn’t mince words to describe Habib Iddrisu as an unfortunate character who has no regard for people in the creative sector in his small clueless world
Sharing a flyer with Habib Iddrisu’s ill-famed advice to John Dumelo, Don D wrote; “ We have unfortunate characters disrespecting creatives all in the name of politics. Mr MP be serious yourself.”
Don D is known for his benevolence, he has made several donations to the less privileged in so many towns and villages out of his constituency.
FDGG Reacts To Habib Iddrisu’s Remarks

In a press statement signed by Richard Yaw Boateng, National President of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG) today, it expressed outrage and disappointment over the comment, describing it as “reckless” and “unfortunate.”
In a strongly-worded statement, the guild condemned Habib Iddrisu’s remark, made during the vetting of John Dumelo, as a “slap in the face” to the entire film industry.
The guild argued that the comment betrays a lack of understanding of the film industry in Ghana and globally.
“We don’t want to believe that the film or movie industry in Ghana is not getting the developmental attention and investment that it deserves from the government of Ghana because of uneducated politicians like him in the House of the Parliament of Ghana. We, the stakeholders of the Ghana movie industry, are so disappointed in him, in his reckless statement, and in any politician who agrees with him.
“In the light of the above, we, therefore, demand a retraction of this reckless statement and an unqualified apology from the Honourable Deputy Minority Whip of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, for his disrespectful and reckless statement to Hon. John Dumelo and the entire movie industry in Ghana.”
