Reggae/dancehall artiste, Ras Kuuku has revealed the reason he believes Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, was appointed as Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Talking in an interview, he stated that the President knows best.

“As for John Dumelo, some people were suggesting that he’ll fit at the creative arts ministry because he’s an actor but beg to differ. The President who appointed him knows the exact reason why John Dumelo who is a creative arts person has been sent to the Agric Ministry.

“What the President sees in John Dumelo and has observed over the years might have contributed to the reason why he decided to give him that particular position. The President has done a thorough feasibility to have come to such a conclusion even though John Dumelo is an actor but recently he’s been actively engaged in farming.”

Ras Kuuku

Meanwhile, Ghanaians have expressed their anger towards Habib Iddrisu, MP who told John Dumelo to be serious because he’s not on a movie set during his vetting at parliament.

Hon. John Domelo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency has recently been involved in farming and has always shared videos of his ventures on his social media handles.

According to Ras Kuuku, John Dumelo is now the biggest influencer among the youth when it comes to farming which will inspire a lot of people to get involved.

“John Dumelo has really earned my respect and I really value him for his ability to project farming to make it look attractive amongst the youth. This is encouraging a lot of the youth to pursue farming and I can see that he’s having the kind of spirit that was seen in Kwame Nkrumah.

“If we are talking about someone who is youthful and also a celebrity who has impacted a lot of minds about farming then it is John Dumelo.”

The Ghanaian singer explained how President Mahama’s ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ policy has inspired him to venture into farming.

He disclosed that he wants to make sure that the policy becomes operational due to the numerous benefits of chicken. “When Mahama was campaigning he promised that he would bring the ‘Nkoko nketenkete’ for the youth to engage in farming,” he said.

“Imagine that we set up some youth in the various constituencies with a number of chicks to start and plan towards the end of the year, I’m sure by December we won’t import chicken.

“So that policy is what has motivated me and I’ve therefore decided that I want to venture into that side and make sure the ‘Nkoko nketenkete’ policy becomes fully operational.”

Ras Kuuku

He further noted that he has observed that a lot of people consume a lot of chicken in Ghana especially children because chicken doesn’t have a lot of cholesterol or fat.

“And so if we are able to breed the chicken here locally without importing because we already have the chicken market and that will empower a lot of the youth.”

Ras Kuuku

President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ policy was an initiative aimed at boosting the agriculture sector in Ghana.

Launched during his presidency (2012–2016), the policy specifically targeted poultry farming to promote the local production of chicken and reduce the country’s reliance on imported frozen chicken.

The name “Nkoko Nketenkete” translates to “Small Chicken” in English, symbolizing the focus on small-scale poultry farming.
