Lord Boam Quiz Finalists Visit Parliament

The finalists and semi-finalists of the Hon. Lord Boam Independence Day Quiz Competition experienced a landmark moment as they visited the Parliament of Ghana, fulfilling a promise made by Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam.

The visit, which formed part of the competition’s educational package, provided the students with an opportunity to witness parliamentary proceedings, engage with lawmakers, and gain insight into the governance process of the nation.

Led by their coordinator, James Azupero, the students arrived at the Parliament House, where they were warmly received and acknowledged during the parliamentary sitting.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, recognized their presence, commending their academic excellence and the significance of their participation in the competition.

Hon. Boam expressed his delight in hosting the students, emphasizing the importance of exposing young scholars to leadership and governance.

“It was a great joy meeting these bright students in person, sharing words of encouragement, and capturing memorable moments with them.

“They represent the future of Pru East and Ghana, and I remain committed to investing in education and supporting their dreams”

Touring Police Headquarters and Kwame Nkrumah Museum

Beyond Parliament, the students extended their tour to other key institutions, including the Ghana Police Headquarters, where they participated in an educational orientation session.

The visit aimed to broaden their knowledge of national security operations and the role of law enforcement in governance.

Additionally, they explored the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, gaining insight into the history and legacy of Ghana’s first president.

The experience was designed to instill a deeper understanding of Ghana’s political heritage and inspire a sense of national pride among the students.

During the visit, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, took a moment to engage with the students, particularly the young females, encouraging them to pursue their education with determination.

She assured them that “female empowerment initiatives will be made available to support girls in completing their education and unlocking their full potential.”

Hon. Boam noted this, emphasizing the government’s commitment to gender equality in education.

Hon. Dominic Napare, the Bono East Regional Caucus Leader, also celebrated the students’ achievements, urging them to remain focused on their studies.

“We recognize your dedication and hard work. Education is the key to unlocking your future, and we will continue to support you in every way possible,” he assured.

The visit was not only a reward for their outstanding performance in the quiz competition but also an initiative aimed at inspiring academic excellence and civic responsibility.

Before the trip, Hon. Boam had reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all deserving students, including the semi-finalists, benefited from this opportunity.

“In recognition of the hard work and dedication displayed throughout the Hon. Boam Independence Quiz Competition, I am delighted to extend the Parliamentary Visit Package to not only the six finalist schools but also the semi-finalists who placed 4th, 5th, and 6th in both contests”

This ensured that students from Perez Academy, Yeji Demonstration JHS, Labo D/A JHS, Bienkwe Community School, Step to Destiny JHS, and Istifhamiyya JHS also participated in the experience.

The visit served as a culmination of the competition, which saw AL-IMAN JHS emerge as the winner of the second edition.

Yeji R/C JHS and Yeji Pentecost JHS secured the second and third positions, respectively. Hon. Boam took the opportunity to once again congratulate the students on their hard-earned victory.

“Your dedication, knowledge, and perseverance have earned you this well-deserved victory. Kudos to Yeji R/C JHS and Yeji Pentecost JHS for putting up an exceptional performance”

As the students concluded their visit to Accra, the experience left a lasting impact on them, reinforcing their aspirations for higher learning and leadership.

Hon. Boam reaffirmed his dedication to continuing such initiatives, ensuring that education remains a priority in Pru East.

“Congratulations once again to all the participants. Keep striving for excellence, the sky is just the beginning.”
