In March 2025, the Ghana Music Award Academy Board announced the nominees for the 26th TGMA, which featured categories such as Artiste of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

The Ghanaian music sensation was honored with the Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), recognizing his significant contributions to the genre over the past year.

Known for his unique blend of Afrobeats and Afropop, King Promise has captivated audiences with his melodic tunes and heartfelt lyrics.

In this category, King Promise triumphed over notable artists, including Camidoh, Mr Drew, Olivetheboy, Lasmid, and KiDi, all of whom have significantly impacted the Afrobeats and Afropop genres.

King Promise also won the Best Afropop Song of the Year at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) with his captivating track ‘Paris’.

The song, known for its infectious rhythm and heartfelt lyrics, has resonated with fans both locally and internationally, solidifying King Promise’s status as a leading figure in the Afropop genre.

In the Best Afropop Song category, King Promise’s ‘Paris’ outshone strong competition from artists such as Kwesi Arthur, Smallgod ft. Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Arathejay ft. Black Sherif, and Black Sherif.

This award adds to King Promise’s growing list of accolades, reflecting his consistent delivery of hits that blend Afrobeat rhythms with pop sensibilities.

Leading the performance roster was Stonebwoy, whose commanding stage presence and hits like “Jejereje” have cemented his fan-favourite status. King Promise also thrilled fans with Afrobeat bangers such as “Terminator” and “Paris.”

Other confirmed performers include Kweku Smoke, bringing his gritty rap hits like “Agyekum” and “Young Boy”; Fameye, known for his emotionally resonant tracks; and Beeztrap KOTM, who is making waves in Ghana’s trap scene.

Afropop favourite KiDi, known for his upbeat party tracks, and alternative star Moliy, famed for her international collaborations, also took the stage. Rising star Titi Owusu, recognised for her genre-bending style, added another dynamic element to the evening.

The Ghana Music Academy Board is composed of professionals from all sectors of the music industry, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers, and engineers, ensuring a diverse and well-rounded judging panel.

At the highly anticipated 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), King Promise made a striking entrance, gliding up to the venue in a sleek red Ferrari that turned heads and generated excitement among fans and fellow attendees alike.

The energy surrounding his arrival was palpable, and the moment seemed to promise an unforgettable night.

However, as the cameras flashed, his fashion choice drew a mixed bag of reactions. King Promise opted for a minimalist ensemble, featuring a fitted black suit paired with a crisp white shirt and understated accessories.

While some fashion enthusiasts lauded his decision to embrace simplicity, others felt it fell short of the extravagant flair typically showcased at such a prestigious event.

Many critics noted that, in a sea of vibrant colors and intricate designs, his outfit felt too plain, lacking the show-stopping impact expected on the red carpet.

This juxtaposition sparked lively discussions among fashion critics and fans alike on social media, with many weighing in on King Promise’s style choices.

Some even suggested that his understated outfit might have influenced public perception during the awards, diverting attention away from his impressive musical achievements.

“We have a long way to go if our ‘top’ celebrities are coming to an awards night like this.”
