Trump Touts Strong Relations With UAE

US President, Donald Trump has touted strong relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

UAE is Trump’s final stop in his Middle East tour, after he visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Trump toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque moments after arriving in Abu Dhabi, calling the rare closure of the Emirati cultural and religious landmark for his presidential visit a “great tribute.”

Speaking at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi, Trump told UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan that the pair have been “good friends” for a long time. “You’re a great warrior, a very strong man, a brilliant man, a man of vision like few others,” Trump said.

“I know you’ll never leave my side. I know that. And you know the special relationship that we have and our country has.”

Trump received the medal of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is the father of the current President.

This is the highest order in the United Arab Emirates, given to Trump as a sign of gratitude and recognition of the strong relationship between the United States of America and the UAE.

Trump invited the UAE President to the White House during a bilateral meeting between the two leaders in the UAE.

“Let me have one month of fixing up the Oval Office, in other words, getting things ready. And I look forward to having you in the White House we’ll celebrate together.”

In a dig at his predecessor Joe Biden, Trump said that the US “was not such a hot country” six months ago but has now become the “hottest” country.

Trump also pivoted to US domestic issues, saying that he’s helped lower grocery prices and created “a border again” – a reference to his hardline, anti-migrant policies.

Also, Trump touted a 1.4Tn investment in artificial intelligence (AI) from UAE.

The US President noted that his administration has garnered $10 trillion in planned investments, including the $ 1.4 trillion investment from the UAE for artificial intelligence.

The US President started the day in Qatar, where he spoke to American troops at the biggest US military installation in the Middle East and suggested progress on Iran nuclear negotiations, Russia-Ukraine talks, a potential India tariff deal, and the possibility of a Gaza “freedom zone.”

His trip has yielded a growing list of deals after a series of meetings with regional leaders.

Trump and Qatar’s emir signed a deal for Qatar to buy up to 210 American-made Boeing planes.

Ahead of his trip, Trump said he plans to accept a plane from Qatar to be used as Air Force One — raising legal, ethical and security concerns.

UAE Keen On Deepening Friendship With US

In remarks at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi alongside Trump, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the UAE is keen to continue deepening the friendship for the benefit of both nations and peoples. “Your presence here today, Mr President, affirms that this commitment is mutual,” he added.

The Emirati leader disclosed that his country shares partnerships with the US across a range of sectors, including energy, artificial intelligence and industry.

“A testament to this is the UAE’s plan to invest in the US in these sectors, through the UAE’s investment bodies, at a total value of $1.4 trillion over the next 10 years.”

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Sheikh Mohamed added that the UAE “remains committed to working with the United States to advance peace and stability in our region and globally.”
