MTN Group Honoured in Brand Africa Hall of Fame for Transformational Impact

MTN Group has achieved another milestone as it was inducted into the inaugural Brand Africa Hall of Fame in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the African continent.

This prestigious honour celebrates MTN’s consistent efforts over the past decade to positively shape the African narrative and drive meaningful social and economic development across the region.

The recognition comes on the heels of the 2025 edition of the Brand Africa 100 rankings, a comprehensive, independent survey conducted across over 30 African countries representing more than 85% of the continent’s population and GDP.

In a resounding affirmation of its continental influence, MTN was also ranked as the #1 Most Admired African Brand Contributing to a Better Africa, the #1 Most Admired African Brand (Spontaneous Recall), the #1 Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Society and the Environment, and the #1 Most Admired Telecommunications Brand. These accolades underscore the brand’s deep-rooted connection with African consumers and its unwavering commitment to innovation, social responsibility, and digital inclusion.

The Hall of Fame recognition introduced by Brand Africa this year seeks to spotlight brands that have consistently demonstrated excellence, integrity, and influence in advancing Africa’s development. MTN’s induction is a testament to the company’s success in bridging the digital divide, promoting financial inclusion, and empowering millions of Africans with tools and services that enhance their quality of life.

Driving Inclusive Growth and Empowerment Through Connectivity

Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO, expressed pride and gratitude upon receiving the honours.

“It is an honour to be inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame and to be named the most admired African brand contributing to a better Africa. That this recognition comes during Africa Month gives it added significance. It reflects the progress we continue to make as a continent and the role trusted brands must play in advancing inclusive, digitally enabled growth.”

Ralph Mupita

Mupita highlighted MTN’s broader mission beyond telecommunications—one that is deeply rooted in enabling access to digital technologies and improving the lives of Africans through innovative solutions. From expanding mobile and internet connectivity in underserved regions to supporting education, health, and environmental initiatives, MTN’s operations are deeply intertwined with the socioeconomic fabric of the continent.

He also acknowledged the collective effort behind the company’s achievements, extending gratitude to MTN’s employees—affectionately called “MTNers”—as well as partners and stakeholders.

“We are grateful for the confidence placed in MTN by the people we serve and remain committed to delivering meaningful impact. This recognition belongs to all those who work tirelessly every day to bring our vision of a bold, new digital world to life.”

Ralph Mupita

With its continued investment in digital infrastructure, fintech, and sustainability, MTN stands as a beacon of progress and a model for corporate citizenship in Africa. The brand’s repeated recognition in the Brand Africa 100 rankings not only reflects consumer admiration but also signals trust, reliability, and shared values between MTN and the communities it serves.

As Africa accelerates toward a digital future, MTN’s leadership and enduring commitment to inclusive development place it at the forefront of transformation. Its Hall of Fame induction cements its role as a brand that not only connects people but also uplifts societies and drives forward the vision of a better Africa.
