Ghanaian music producer and DJ, GuiltyBeatz, has shared the inspiring story of how his journey into music production began.
The hitmaker revealed that he started making music at the age of 18.
“I started music production at 18 by creating beats on my friend’s phone. I had friends who were rappers back then, and I feel that’s where the passion started.”

Known for producing chart-topping hits and working with some of the biggest names in Afrobeats, GuiltyBeatz’s story is a testament to how passion, creativity, and determination can pave the way to success regardless of how modest the beginnings may be.
His early experimentation with beats, driven by a love for music and the influence of friends, laid the foundation for what would become a successful career in the global music industry.
The Ghanaian DJ also credited his genre-blending style for his success in the Nigerian music industry.
He explained that appealing to Nigerian audiences requires understanding their musical tastes and delivering beats that connect with them emotionally.
“When they hear my beat for some reason they feel connected to it. And I think because my beats are not like technically fully Ghanaian, it’s a mixture of R&B and a lot of stuff.”

GuiltyBeatz, widely recognised for producing hits like “Akwaaba,” also observed a shift in how his music is received back home in Ghana. “Now Ghanaians do like my beat. I feel before, I was probably too way ahead of time for them but now people are more opened to sounds and rhythms,” he added.

His ability to fuse elements of R&B, Afrobeats, and other global influences has not only opened doors in Nigeria but also gained him a growing international fan base.
However, the celebrated Ghanaian producer and DJ opened up about a critical moment in his music journey when he almost gave up on his dreams.
The hitmaker revealed that he reached a point where he considered quitting music entirely. “In 2015, I was about quitting music and I prayed for a sign,” he shared. “Then I made a song with Mr. Eazi, and that was when I knew it was time to continue.”
That collaboration with Mr Eazi would go on to become a pivotal moment in GuiltyBeatz’s career, opening doors to new opportunities and cementing his place in the Afrobeat music scene.
Today, GuiltyBeatz is recognised internationally for his unique production style and work with top-tier artists. His story is a powerful reminder that perseverance, faith, and timing can often shape the path to success.
GuiltyBeatz on Grammy Nomination Boosting His Value

The Ghanaian music producer and musician stated that his recent Grammy nomination has significantly elevated his value in the global music space.
GuiltyBeatz shared that the recognition has not only enhanced his profile but also opened new doors for collaboration and storytelling.
He earned four nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Progressive R&B Album. These nominations were tied to his contributions to various projects featuring artistes such as Tems.
He went on to win the Grammy for Best African Music Performance for his production work on Tems’s song “Love Me Jeje.”
This achievement marks a major milestone in his career, further solidifying his status as one of Africa’s most influential and internationally recognized producers.
He also shared the story of how he first connected with Nigerian music sensation Tems.
“I met Tems in 2021 through her manager, Wale. He came to listen to my production on King Promise’s 5 Star album and introduced me to Tems.”
