The Tema Harbour community has been rocked by a disturbing murder case, as police at the Tema Regional Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the discovery of a decapitated male body in the harbour enclave.

The shocking incident has triggered public outrage and renewed calls for intensified security in and around the port area.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the incident was first reported on 30th May 2025 when officers received a distress call alerting them to a lifeless body found within the vicinity of Tema Harbour in the Greater Accra Region.

Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the second location, where they rescued the suspect from a potentially violent mob.

The individual, identified as Ali Mustapha, was promptly taken into custody. This unexpected turn deepened the gravity of the case and intensified the urgency of the police probe.

Following initial interrogations and intelligence gathering, police investigators tracked and apprehended a second suspect, Zakaria Mohammed.

Both men are now in custody as the authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the brutal crime.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra, where it is being preserved for a pending autopsy.

Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the victim, who remains unnamed in the ongoing investigation. “Both suspects are currently in police custody while efforts are being made to identify the deceased. Investigation continues.”

The incident has reignited security concerns at Tema Harbour, one of Ghana’s busiest and most strategic economic zones.

Residents and port workers have expressed alarm over the apparent ease with which such a heinous act could take place in a heavily policed industrial enclave.

Meanwhile, police operations in other regions of the country have also yielded results in separate but related criminal activities.

The Western Central Regional Police Command reported the arrest of a man in possession of a firearm under suspicious circumstances.

On 29th May 2025, officers detained Yahaya Seidu at Aponteng Krom in the Western Region for the unlawful possession of a locally manufactured pistol and ammunition.

Upon search, officers retrieved the weapon and two live cartridges from Seidu, who is currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say he will be arraigned before a court once their inquiries are complete.

The police called on the public to stay alert and actively support ongoing security efforts by cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

They emphasized that public vigilance and timely information-sharing are essential to preventing crime and ensuring community safety.

In light of the recent developments at Tema Harbour and in the Western Region, security analysts are encouraging more thorough surveillance and intelligence-led operations to prevent such incidents from recurring.

As the investigation at Tema Harbour unfolds, many are waiting anxiously to learn more about the motive behind the murder and whether it forms part of a larger pattern of criminal activity.

With both suspects currently in custody and forensic examinations actively ongoing, the police have reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation.

Authorities emphasized that every effort is being made to uncover the complete circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that justice is delivered swiftly and in accordance with the law.
