Ghanaian singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene has reiterated that his visit to the Volta Region before his rise to fame was solely for evangelism, pushing back against speculations and misconceptions surrounding his earlier remarks.
Kuami Eugene, in an interview, attributed a turning point in his life and career to the period following his return from Volta.
According to him, the spiritual activities and prayers he engaged in during his time there may have played a role in opening doors for him.
However, speaking in a recent interview, the “Angela” hitmaker said he was surprised by the public’s reaction to his earlier comment about his trip to the region, stressing that his mission at the time was purely religious.
“I think that stereotyping is very wrong. Because what I was doing in Volta was practically evangelism — that was then. We were doing churches. So we did Afiadenyigba, we did Atiavi, and Keta before I came back to Accra. I was basically talking about the fact that maybe from the prayers, that triggered a lot of things, because as soon as I got back to Accra, everything started falling in place.”

His comment, however, sparked speculation on social media, with some users suggesting that the musician may have visited the region for spiritual assistance, a stereotype Kuami Eugene strongly condemned.
“It’s unfortunate how people stereotype the Volta Region as a place only known for spiritual powers. Many didn’t even watch the full interview — they just picked one part and ran with it.”
