Perez Musik Hails Cwesi Oteng’s Gospel Legacy

Cwesi Oteng and Perez Musik

Gospel musician Perez Musik has praised Cwesi Oteng for his significant contribution to the gospel music scene, particularly in the contemporary urban gospel genre.

He stated that Cwesi Oteng created numerous opportunities for young gospel singers following the release of his hit song ‘God Dey Bless Me’ in 2012.

The ‘Hewale Lala’ hitmaker noted that the gospel singer paved the way for him and many other gospel artists.

“Cwesi Oteng is just an amazing inspiration when he did the ‘God Dey Bless Me.’ There are a lot of things we’re enjoying now as musicians which would have been difficult if Cwesi hadn’t come. He paved the way for a lot of things.”

Perez Musik

Adding his voice to Cwesi Oteng’s past comments about the criticism and spiritual attacks he has faced from fellow gospel artistes, Perez Musik agreed, stating that it is indeed true and somewhat normal.

He further explained that people often try to eliminate what they do not understand, saying people always try to eliminate you when you’re a mystery to them. “The attacks are many. Some of them are physical while others are spiritual,” he said.

“Some people would slander you… When you are a mystery to people, they always try to figure out a way to get to you. Spiritually I would not say they attacked me, but those things happen. But I don’t focus on such things. He who lives in me is greater than he who lives in this world.”

Having said that, he believes silence is often the best way to avoid attacks, as talking too much may expose one to dangers.

“Sometimes it’s best to remain the mystery that they know you for because when you talk or show too much, you give them a reason to be able to get you. So, sometimes just remain the mystery that you are.”

“I would rather have songs that will be meaningful in the next 10 years than have a song that will make noise for six months and nobody wants to hear it again.”

Perez Musik

He also shared an experience of how he once had an encounter with someone who told him they were waiting for his next release, to which he replied, “What are you waiting for?”

Perez Musik added that many people describe him as a blessing whenever they meet him.

Ultimately, music has the power to heal, inspire, and connect, reminding listeners of shared humanity and the beauty of the human experience.
